What is the purpose of unsolicited ballots being distributed?

States that do not have mail in voting only, and are sending out ballots based on registration are violating their own state election laws. They've all had plenty of time to change said laws, none of them have. That is one of the biggest issues here. Liberal governors are attempting to circumvent legislation in order to send out ballots that were never requested. It is not the state's place to send out ballots to anyone who did not request them. Voting is voluntary in this country, and as such, the voter is the only person who should be initiating their vote...

If that's actually the case, each of these ballots, and thus, the votes on them, are illegal, and will be thrown out in court.

    To ensure more people vote.

What's the purpose of having in person polling on ONE day only open during working hours? That's the question you should ask.

Such a process was designed hundreds of years ago. It doesn't fit the modern world.

I live in a state, Colorado, that mails every registered voter a ballot. I can mail it in, drop it off at a drop box, or go vote in person. This was put into place back when Colorado was largely a red state. So I'm not sure what else there is to get your head around on this.

Since when does mailing a ballot compel anyone to vote? Can't they just throw it away and thus choose NOT to vote?

No state has mail in voting ONLY. That's not how it works. And I doubt you are an expert in election law.

The reason states in the past only mailed ballots when requested was to save money. States are set up for in person polling for no justified reason in 2020. Back in the day it was done in person because it was the only way. So now they are simply sending out ballots so people can choose to vote safely. There is no way either party would risk such a move if it meant all those ballots would be invalidated by the other party.

I got mine in the mail. Is there any safe way to do it? Like isn't there some ballot box at town halls it can be dropped into or something? I am not putting that thing in regular mail where it can be screwed with. Is there any safe way to do this mail in thing or think its better just to do it the old fashioned way?

Mailing ballots does not ensure -any- person votes, say nothing of "more" people.
It might give more people the -opportunity- to vote, but that's not the same thing, and in any case, it's an opportunity they already have.
Voting in person is more secure as the ballots never leave possession of the state holding the election. Chain of custody.
The question you should ask: why do people want to get as many ballots as they can out of the possession of said state?

I am receiving a mail in ballot without requesting it. That is well within the definition of "unsolicited" The purpose we are asked to believe is to reduce the risk of spreading Covid. Those who trust politicians should just go along with it.

It lowers the bar significantly given many employers have historical issues making it difficult for workers to get time off to vote. That matters as working people with kids shouldn't be punished by making voting more difficult.

Really? I don't believe you. In fact, I know this is false. In person voting has been tampered with since day 1 in this country. Voting is left up to each county. Many of which have zero controls in place. You should go to some of those small counties and see ballots sitting in the open at in person voting places. Real chain of custody there. Boxes left unlocked is not uncommon. Boxes disappearing on their way to the state is also not uncommon. Sorry, but mail in voting typically has FEWER hands on the ballots. Yours, the mail carrier's, the sorting facility's, and then the state's. Even this isn't a worry to me, but it's no more secure.

They don't. They just want one ballot.

Voting in person only is a relic. It should change for reasons other than the pandemic. Republicans have long supported these changes such as in my state. In fact, mail in voting has traditionally benefited republicans anyway.

And those who disagree should go vote in person. Problem solved.

In case you haven't heard, there's a deadly pandemic making it unsafe to congregate with crowds indoors. You're welcome.

The paralyzing fear that a certain faction has of a large voter turnout continues to perplex me. If your faction thrives on voters not voting, then I'm sorry, but you deserve to lose.

Think about what you just said.
    And so, you agree:
It might give more people the -opportunity- to vote, but that's not the same thing, and in any case, it's an opportunity they already have.
Think about what you just said.
How does this demonstrate that voting in person is less secure than voting by mail?
Anything you use to show voting in person isn't secure applies to voting by mail as well, PLUS the fact the ballots leave possession of the state allows for -additional- opportunities for tampering / fraud / whatever.
So, you either didn't actually think about your response, or you know it's BS.
Provide example of this happening while the polls are open.
You misunderstand the question. I'll ask differently:
Some people want as many ballots as they can to leave the possession of the state, and thus, be removed from the chain of custody. Why do you think that is?
The fact --no-- state has voting in person only aside...
Voting in person makes it harder for Democrats to cheat.

I wouldn't go so hyperbolic as saying paralyzed with fear, I would say concerned.. Those people are the ones WILLING to brave the wild of COVIDIA and cast a vote in person, standing next to someone they don't know and risking contagion, does that really meet your criteria for someone paralyzed with FEAR

I have no idea what it's like voting in person in your state but I know in the 3 different states I have voted in person in I often wondered if the votes I cast were ever recorded as I voted once I pulled the lever. I never got anything to show if or how my votes were recorded. At least when you Mail In a ballot you actually know that you have colored in the appropriate blocks next to the candidates you want to elect . In either case whether your vote actually ever gets to be part of the official voter tallies is still just blind faith. This is why we need to move to computerized voting, where a voter can see that there vote was actually properly recorded and tallied and the voting totals for each candidate will be constantly up to date and accurate. We vote like a 19th century banana republic, we need to move into the 21stcentury, vote from home using either a computer or a smart phone. we would not need to pay the thousands of poll workers every election. The only reason I believe we haven't already done this is that our present system is much easier to cheat which the political parties love.

Yes, it gives more people the opportunity to vote. I have no problem with that statement and if it's a correction of my original one, I'm good with it.

It demonstrates it's not less secure.

Says the person who didn't respond to anything said.

What makes you think the post office has any time to tamper with them? And note that there's a mitigation for ballot tampering. It's called throwing them out. That's true regardless of where the tampering occurs. And the system works well.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Box_13_scandal

Here's just one of the more famous ones.

You're question is pointless because the chain of custody you refer isn't what stops voter fraud.

    That actually applies to republicans...

    https://www.npr.org/2019/07/30/7468...s-new-felony-charges-that-allege-ballot-fraud

But you're worried about a problem that doesn't exist. You should focus your energy on real problems.

The reasonable concerns about millions of unsolicited ballots floating around "out there somewhere" free for the grabbing by Paulie, Silvio and all the rest of the Soprano State Public Union THUGS shouldn't perplex even the most benighted. Ouch.

Hm. You must have missed this :

Anything you use to show voting in person isn't secure applies to voting by mail as well, PLUS the fact the ballots leave possession of the state allows for -additional- opportunities for tampering / fraud / whatever.

This, necessarily, means voting in person is more secure as those "additional opportunities" do not exist.
Silly you, thinking the PO is the only means to tamper/commit fraud/whatever with mail in ballots.

How many of these ballots would have been lost, or late, if the voting was done in person?
    LOL
The chain of custody makes fraud less likely as it holds those who handle the ballots accountable.
Ah. I'm rubber, you're glue. Very ECD of you.

    And, the fact remains:
The fact --no-- state has voting in person only.

A harvester doesn't necessarily have to open the ballot. He just fills it out for the voter, then seals it up.

They aren't just "floating out there somewhere." They are mailed to the addresses that people have registered under. They are mailed to registered voters at the address under which they are registered. Addresses are compared when they are turned in, as are signatures. Whether or not they have already voted is also checked. There is NO evidence of large-scale voter fraud, much less successful large-scale voter fraud, much less coordinated large-scale voter fraud in that singularly benefits one candidate. None. No evidence. Ouch.
