I don't particularly care about Australia's censorship and it's move towards the same circumstances that allow radicalists to gain power in the first place. It seems no one has learnt the true lesson from the past. By pushing them deeper and deeper into the underground, you create the conditions to have people sympathize with them.

On the other hand, as Richard Nixon implemented the policy of detente, it had essentially frozen the map and prevented powers from growing out of control. And it works as well domestically. Give them a bone and they'll be satisfied chewing on that bone.

Sorry, New Zealand. Both countries are practically cousins sometimes ;). Point stands, the censorship just pushes these people underground, where our own FBI in America openly admitted it's harder to track them. Great job :D

That's it, we must either shut down these sites or allow the gov to have complete control of them, since a guy who represents about 1, 1 hundred millionth of the total viewers has done something.

Obviously without social media, nut bags will never nut up....If only McVeigh and Terry Nichols....

yeah, you do have to wonder how the nut cases shared their messages back then

like the civil war, I guess back then political leaders and the rich pushed the message down to the people, trying to stir them up to get what they wanted

This is just like the gun issue. I am not willing to see my rights or the rights of others be trodden upon due to the actions of people who should be locked in a looney bin. Crazy people are not normal and their actions should not be the basis for setting policy.

Nut cases, like extremists, rapists, and pedophiles don't really need social media, their twisted imaginations serve the purpose just fine.

You have a right to say anything that is not an imminent call to lawlessness.

I think it's ok that they are online and visible. Then they can be monitored. As someone said they'll just go further underground if pressed.

I think though, if certain lines are crossed (e.g. incitement, racism) then Facebook and YouTube have to cull... Working out where that line lies is the challenge.

It's very hard to prevent the occasional nutter. I think having a good education system and health system including mental health are keys to statistically keep this kind of shooting to minimum. And obviously gun laws.

Glad we have joesnagg here to approve who is allowed to use social media.

I say communists shouldn't be allowed to use it.

No, I got it. You think certain people should be banned from social media.

People you think don't deserve the right to be on social media.

    That's what you said.

    Yeah but
    1) you are intelligent
    2) you have undergone that annoying thing called tertiary education the result of which you have learnt to do

    Oh! I agree

    Now let’s define “crazy”

How about someone with clearly defined psychopathy such as narcissism, sociopathy displays clear signs of mental illness such as using word salads and shows an astonishing lack of empathy, has recently shown a complete disconnect from reality but who is allowed near the main Control for one of the most destructive arsenals on the planet

I think social media should be for anyone who wishes to be social.

I know quite a few BLM supporters who have social media profiles, and while I think many of those people are pieces of ****, I don't think they should be banned.

Actions like calling for violence should get you banned, but simply espousing a view? Nah.

Did anyone check to make sure he wasn't playing violent video games like Doom and Call of Duty while listening to Marilyn Manson?

I would enjoy seeing evidence Confederates didn’t read books. Never heard that claim before. :)
