Correct. Big Tech is “stealing” the civil rights of some, the freedom of speech, and the income of some.

Why does big tech owe seditionists a platform?

Their mission statement is to provide a neutral platform where all topics may be discussed freely.

That would be ok, but if you think Amazon did this to help Dems, then you should be asking why they would do it AFTER Dems already control the House, Senate and White House.

Do you ever stop to ask yourself such questions?

    No, you don't.

Corporations are motivated by MONEY. That is what drives the free markets. If they have a customer who makes them look bad, they will tell them to go pound sand. That is why Parler got the boot, not because of a conspiracy.

    The timing is completely obvious.

They did it after because now there will be no Congressional hearings or investigations. And since they now control the DOJ there will not be a federal investigation.

Do you suppose this forum might take big tech’s lead and ban conservatives from participation here?

That’s the service they promised based on the fundamental premise that the internet would be a vast platform for the unrestricted exchange of ideas. And that’s why the received the protection of section 230. Unfortunately they have a used 230 as it is written to do exactly the opposite.

Can you point to the part of 230 that says they can't have a code of conduct?

~ They may have no choice. If censorship becomes enforcement by the courts website hosts will be forced to close off discussion sites. We may end up with an internet firewall like China .

So, you think the federal court may order social media sites to censor conservative views or just eliminate political discussions in a public setting? That would result in the destruction of this republic.

Yes. A 6/3 conservative SCOTUS will totally let that happen.

There will be a crack down under the Biden administration on free speech. Hard to say what form that will take, but Democrat Senators all expressed the desire to have social media companies censor more internet speech during the hearings with Big Tech CEO's, while Republican senators were unified in requesting less censorship and more respect for free speech.

Biden's promise to pass "Domestic Terrorism" legislation is worrying because that could easily be used against "political enemies" seeing how vicious the left wing have become. Biden wrote The Patriot Act which interfered with freedoms and privacy.

Very recently Biden compared Senator Ted Cruz to Joseph Goebbels, so you see where the Democrats are heading. They wish to silence political opposition.

230 has nothing to do with a code of conduct. 230 covers open forums. If they want to have a code of conduct that makes them a publisher and subject to legal liabilities.

~ No. They will simply "allow" segregated speech. Note the Supreme Court refused to hear evidence of vote irregularity in several swing states during a highly contested election. They had an opportunity to quell suspicion and doubt but refused to do so - using what many say is a flimsy excuse.
We could very well see a tainted Federal court as well. Time will tell ...

I just had a political discussion group on Next Door removed for “promoting” election misinformation. All the posts were fact based and backed up with links to the data sources. Next Door is a private company but they are suppressing free speech. Threads on the main feed about this and the suppression of the freedom of speech were immediately closed or removed. This is scary.

~ Same thing happens here in Los Angeles NextDoor discussion. Say "China virus" and it gets deleted. People are taking notice .

You shall only say words the left believes, not words the right believes. Break the rules and you will not be able to say any words at all. 1984 is here.

The law disagrees. PF has a list of rules. Not illegal.

I hate it when people get political on Next Door, unless it's related to local issues.

Next Door, for me, is about helping people find lost pets, figure out why that helicopter was flying so late last night, and advertising yard sales. Being neighborly kind of stuff.
