If cisgender girls can join the Boy Scouts, can cisgender boys join a girls sport team?

You've had personal experience with the Girl Scouts?

My sister has, I had experience with the Boy Scouts - granted things could have changed quite a bit in 20 years. Are you disputing that scouting is less focused on camping than Girl Scouts?

I mean COME ON! Isn't it obvious that it WILL have changed quite a bit in 20 years? It's probably changed quite a bit in the last FIVE years, let alone 20!

Do you mean, am I disputing that Girl Scouts is less focused on camping than Boy Scouts?

Boy Scouts is now Scouts BSA as of February of 2019. “Boy Scouts” no longer exists as an organizational entity [source]. But yes, that is what I asked.

That would depend on the individual circumstances and would be entirely down to the organisation in question. As a general principle, I think there would need to be solid reasoning for excluding any defined group though.

The BSA as an organisation decided that they would move from single sex to co-ed, something Scouting in various other countries did some time ago. I don't see why their choice would directly have any impact on the decisions of any sport teams.

I wonder if you know what "BSA" stands for.

I have no evidence to suggest that Boy Scouts camp less than Girl Scouts. Do you? I mean other than your personal experience.

Surely you don't think that I was saying that it would.

Irrelevant, that organization no longer exists. I am sure they still use it due to name recognition and marketing however.

As I have stated earlier, my perception is based on personal experience and I can find no unbiased analysis on the web that shows the difference between the level of camping each entity uses in their program.

Did you read the 'about' page on their website?

I assume that you know what the strength of a 'personal experience' argument is.

Are you asking because you’re interested in joining a girls sports team? Just curious.

BSA and even “Boy Scouts” is used all over their website (potentially as a keyword for website hits) but as an organization it is now Scout BSA. Boy Scouts exists only as a marketing principle.

In the absence of all other sources it is superior. If you find a source that says Girl Scouts contribute more or even a similar amount of their program to camping as Scouts BSA does than I will accept that as fact — until that occurs I will accept my experience as possible.

Yes I did. Maybe you should have added "sufficient elaboration" to make it clear what you are actually saying so we wouldn't have to guess.

Well of course YOU will accept YOUR personal experience as possible! I just don't understand why you don't accept your personal experience as FACT!

My question is basically, if one is acceptable, is the other acceptable?

I see no reason not to let them play. It does no harm. Go have fun playing ball, kids!

Yes, and my response is that the "acceptability" either one isn't contingent on the other.

It is generally "acceptable" for any organisation to decide to alter it's membership criteria (within the context of any relevant laws and regulations), which is what actually happened with the BSA. It doesn't make any difference whether any other organisations choose to change their membership criteria or not.

Just wondering. You COULD be a useless conservative who says that anything is acceptable because everything is subjective. Or you could be a normal liberal and say the same thing.

Something tells me that you wouldn't say that it would be acceptable if an organisation banned gay members.

Well of course no one should think it acceptable for anyone getting banned. I think you missed the part that is bolded below.
