Remember these are human beings we are talking about and just because you personally may not have a fear of something and/or are made uncomfortable by something doesn't mean others aren't. Folks hold all sorts of irrational fears that make literally zero statistical sense yet they are afraid anyway. I know plenty of people who are terrified of flying and will never step foot on an airplane out of fear of it crashing. Meanwhile they are perfectly comfortable driving 75-85mph on the interstate while eating a burger with one hand and turning around in the seat ever few mins to fuss at their kids acting up in the backseat. One of those two modes of travel is around 2000x more likely to result in your death than the other yet millions of people are terrified of the less dangerous of the two.

My ex was one of those people who was just mortified of guns for some reason. As was my Grandmother. She didn't have a bad childhood experience with guns or see anything horrific or anything she was just scared of the things for some reason. I'm talking she had a comical irrational fear of guns to where she would literally scream and shriek and run out of the room like she saw a mouse if she so much as saw a gun. Some folks are just like that I guess. Obviously not everyone is that ridiculous about it but some folks are just uncomfortable seeing guns.

For me guns are as common as seeing a wristwatch. I deal with guns all the time during my career and I live in a small town to where virtually every single person is open or concealed carrying and it's nowhere near abnormal to see somebody shopping at the grocery store with a pistol on their hip. But for those who aren't used to that sort of thing I can see how it could be intimidating to them. I've had plenty of friends come visit me and absolutely FREAK OUT the first time they see a guy or gal sitting at the restaurant bar with a revolver or glock on their hip just casually eating their dinner. To them that's absolutely insane, for me it takes me a minute to figure out what the hell they are pointing at because here that's about as normal as seeing somebody playing on their smartphone at the bar. It's just different cultures.

If they can't "see" it then it doesn't register in their brains, if they see it on their hip then it makes them take notice which makes them uncomfortable. Little do they know that virtually every single person you see talking around here has a firearm on them, the ones not seen are just those who prefer to carry concealed instead. I live in an actual 2nd Amendment state, there are no permits required to carry any firearm in any method of carry.

Even in Australia you CAN keep and bear arms - it is just that we have more safety in and around that than you do. Think of it as the difference between driving in America and driving in SE Asia

and you have to jump through a million hoops and tell them that you have a genuine need your rights should not need to be proven to anyone to practice them that's why they are called rights. Otherwise they are called " priveledges "

But do you not have to “jump through hoops” to drive a car? Or operate a food stall or sell certain home grown products or ride a bicycle even.

Tell me - who has more crime per capita - Australia or the USA?

Yet another example of the tyranny of the left they want you to justify having your rights they're called rights you don't have to justify them

none of what you mentioned is considered a right and I won't get dragged down into some off topic conversation about crime rates in two different countries

I was out in the country recently catching bait at a Creek I heard about 10 dogs barking and they were chasing this poor horse across the pasture after about 10 minutes of this the gentleman stepped out on his back porch and fired a gun and guess what he didn't even have to hit any of the dogs and they scattered and left the horse alone yet another useful purpose for guns

That you don't use your guns to kill does not negate the fact that that's why they were made.

that's a strawman argument from the face of it this assumes that that's the only purpose or reason for a gun when in fact they are used daily across this nation for many other purposes for instance shooting paper targets because you know what it's fun

You could have done the same with any loud noise maker

Yep a gun just happened to be a fine loud noise maker and it worked so therefore there's another reason for a gun. I had my bullwhip in the van but it was not my horse and I did not want a pack of dogs on my ass. Which would you have chosen? I,d sooner trust the gun. And you have every right to shoot dogs harassing livestock on private land

That you don't use your guns to kill STILL does not negate the fact that that's why they were made.
