Yeah, but she didn't need that surgery. We were talking about the consequences of sex, and how safe it is, if you're just planning on getting an abortion if you get pregnant.
It's a matter of terminology. "Safe sex" refers to protection of STDs. That covers sex acts they don't even have a chance of resulting in pregnancy. Prophylaxis refers to decreasing the likelihood of pregnancy. Some forms of prophylaxis help with reducing the chance of STDs. Some do not. I thought you were intereted in this topic. Yet, it seems you do not evven know the basics that every middle school kid needs to know. How do you plan to teach your "don't get pregnant" class when you don't know the fundamentals?
She did very much need it. She did not wsnt to be a mother, so she did what she needed to do. Her life is her life.

No, I do not give a damn about such collevtivist mumbo-jumbo. What I am saying is that you cannot externally judge a legal action without knowing the reasons behind it. I know religious people have a huge problem with this because their whole worldview is motivated by "because God said so." You have a problem with wanting to control people.
Does a woman still need an abortion at 8 weeks, if she didn't get it at 5 weeks? (change the numbers if you will, the exact numbers are not important to this argument here)
Yes. For example, I cannot just look at a man who gets divorced and say "that's bad!" Maybe he was constantly fighting with his wife, making the kids and everyone miserable? I do not know that and can therefore not judge him for something that in of itself is not wrong (divorce). I know religious people oppose divorce, but that is only for the completely second-handed reason of "because the scripture said so." Why are you so interested in being able to judge people?
Where do you draw the line though? You have to distinguish somewhere. You can't say "I'll never judge anyone for anything because maybe they had a good reason for it"
This is another astounding bit of failure to understand this topic. First, there is rape and incest. Protecting oneself from pregnancy due to these crimes is not "so easy". And, only the woman knows if she was raped. Next, lets remember that fetuses can be FAR FAR from being healthy. The question becomes whether the fetus can survive gestation or whether it needs to be removed. The question becomes whether life will be livable vs. being an experience of constant pain and incapacity until early death. The question can include whether the woman can afford or obtain adequate health care to cause a fetus to even just survive. Each of these has a broad spectrum of severity where there is not agreement on what the decisions "should" be. NONE of these issues can be assumed to be black and white. They are all judgement calls. Next, a pregnancy can be a threat to the health or life of the woman. Next, there can be serious issues of mental health involved. Etc. These are all issues that the mother knows with the help of her doctor and where the government does NOT know and has NO BUSINESS.
They could always inject her with the truth serum while she's on the abortion table. Most abortions they already inject sedatives into the woman, so it could be hitting two birds with one stone.
Suicide happens with rape and incest victims as well. And, it's not up to YOU to decide what risk a particular woman faces. You want to use this generalization you claim exists in order to make a LAW that applies to ALL women But, the actual situation has to do with a specifc woman.
Can be, but rarely is. Very rare, actually, in fact. Of course, it hinges all on how you define "health". Some will tell us every pregnancy threatens the health of the woman.
It is generally very bad to judge other people as it prevents you from meeting new people and being happy with yourself. What you can do is to judge yourself, in a rational and fact-based manner of course -- That is extremely healthy. Way too many people are like; "Oh, I could only date a woman who reads philosophy" or "There is no one out there who shares my interests, everyone is boring. That is why I do not make new friends." Very, very, very bad thoughts to have.
