The federal government sold hundreds of thousands of actual military grade, semiautomatic, magazine fed rifles to citizens for decades, without background checks and mailed them to their homes. Evidently the government felt there was a need for citizens to own these kinds of firearms.
“The Court has held that “the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding,” District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U. S. 570, 582 (2008], and that this “ Second Amendment right is fully applicable to the States,” McDonald v. Chicago, 561 U. S. 742, 750 (2010). " Caetano v Massachusetts, 2016.
The federal government disagrees - else it would not have set up the program that sold, and continues to sell, such weapons.
Your claim he’s planning on banning all guns is totally false. But by all means provide a quote where he has stated he is for banning all guns. I’ll wait.
you do know that the main reason for gun banners to push "universal background checks" is to create a "need"for universal registration
IF he claims we need to ban "assault weapons" (used in less than 2% of all murders) to prevent criminal misuse of such firearms-doesn't logic demand that he support banning handguns and shotguns which are used in far more murders?
that is nonsense. many firearms are designed to fire projectiles with no intent of use against living items. Examples 22 caliber three position rifles such as the Winchester 52, the Anschutz 54 etc 22 caliber target handguns such as the Smith and Wesson 41 and the various offerings from Hammerli, Domino, Walther Etc. centerfire target handguns such as the Colt Gold Cup, the Rock River National Match 1911, the CZ Czechmate, the CZ TS and its descendants, the STI 2011, etc Centerfire target rifles including the various AR 15 makers National Match rifles The Perazzi MT-6, Perazzi Mirage, Perazzi MS-80, the Krieghoff K-32 and K-80, the Beretta 680, 682, 690 Etc, the Browning BT-99, 725 Sporting, etc, the Kolar and Blazer skeet guns and dozens of other shotguns made specifically for trap, Olympic Trap, Sporting clays, FITASC, NSSA Skeet and ISU Trap etc.
pistols, handguns and rifles. in mass killings, we have firearms, bombs, incendiary devices, sarin gas, biological weapons, motor vehicles including cars, trucks and planes
The problem with coming into a conversation late is you are clueless what was being talked about. You are making an argument against something I wasn’t arguing about.
well most city and state governments reject your assertion because they arm their CIVILIAN law enforcement officers with stuff that the anti gun left routinely calls "military hardware" and in some cases, it actually is given how many M16 rifles have been transferred to CIVILIAN agencies by the US military. That is how I determine if a weapon is protected under the second amendment: if our law enforcement agencies have access to a type of weapon, that means the governmental entity that controls said LE Agency has made a DETERMINATION that said weapon or weapon style is suitable for its CIVILIAN employees to use for SELF DEFENSE in a CIVILIAN environment. that should create an estoppel on the same government unit from saying that weapon style has no suitable use for other civilians.
You seem confused. Just because he wants to ban "assault" weapons, which I disagree with, doesn't mean he wants all guns banned. He's only interested in banning "assault" weapons as a "feel good" thing. It's not based on anything rational.
this is called a logical analysis Biden=we need to ban assault weapons even though they are used in less than 2% of all murders. We need to ban them to stop that less than 2% of murders. Me (and millions of others). Handguns are used in more than 65% of the murders, if stopping murders is what really motivates him than he should be pushing to ban every weapon that is used in more murders than "assault weapons". If he is not really interested in stopping murders, than he is a lying Dishonest POS-which I think you admitted he is-
really? I doubt there is anything about gun politics and gun use that I know less of than you do but just for S&G, edify me as to what the context is and what I missed
What you may or may not know has nothing to do with jumping late into a conversation I was having with another poster. You made the wrong assumption about what was being discussed. <COMMENTS EDITED>
no but it is amazing how many of his minions try to pretend that the Biden schemes are actually something other than pandering to the low wattage sheeple
a common sense restriction is one that actually targets criminal behavior, is constitutional, and has a better than even chance of decreasing violent crime. the stuff that the left proposes rarely meets ANY of those three tests.
