We are polling for what posters believe. We know that at least one Democrat believes in multiple sexes. Seems impossible to me. And what do you think?
How many 'sexes' are there? Just as many as deranged minds can IMAGINE.... And, remember -- depending on what mood a person is in, their 'sexual orientation' can mutate endlessly, too! The genitalia don't change, though, unless a person decides to have himself/herself/itself, uh, 'modified'....
There are more than 2 sexes, but you won't know about that until the aliens show up, or perhaps you do some heavy research on the animal kingdom here on Earth. As far as humans go, there are generally 2 sexes. To my knowledge, there are only two shapes of sex organs that humans come in, assuming there aren't any rare mutations of completely new sex organs showing up. But I put "you pick the number" because I'm counting creatures that are asexual and don't reproduce the same way that we do.
There are two primary sexes but dozens if not hundreds of intermediate sexes in humans. Since most of these intermediate sexes result in infertility there is some debate if they should be counted among the original two but they exist nonetheless. Like most things with homosapiens, there is a lot of gray and very little black and white.
It depends on how you are characterizing it: https://news.cnrs.fr/articles/how-many-sexes-are-there “An almost unlimited number of sexes? Whatever their origin, all of these anomalies show that intersex traits cover a vast range of biomedical conditions varying in frequency and severity, and that the precise number of different biological sexes among humans is in reality a complex issue. It is generally held that there are no simple answers to this question. Based on the sole criterion of production of reproductive cells, there are two and only two sexes: the female sex, capable of producing large gametes (ovules), and the male sex, which produces small gametes (spermatozoa). However, this gonadic criterion (based upon reproductive glands) is not the only factor on which the definition of biological gender rests. We must also consider genetic sex (based on X and Y chromosomes), anatomical (based on the appearance of the genitalia), hormonal gender (based on the predominant hormones), and so on. Moreover, “each sexual parameter can have variants,” explains Éric Vilain, of the Epigenetics, Data & Politics Laboratory.4 For example, “XX/XY mosaics” are individuals with gonads comprising both ovaries and testicles. We may thus conclude that an infinite combination of biological genders exists... and thus, far more than the five sexes proposed by Anne Fausto-Sterling in the 1990s, which were in fact based primarily on a gonadic definition of gender.”
I better butt out of this thread before I fool around and get banned again. How can a person ever know what they're doing if they don't even know what they are...?
It can be at the chromosomal level, physical level or both. It is partially described in the source I quoted above. Did you read it? Basically individuals that fall outside of the standard male / female characteristics.
do these outsiders carry the same tools as those who are insiders? We're talking human beings, right?
Throughout the ages there has been a small number of people who were born with both sets of sexual organs in their bodies. The Germans called them "Zwitter". But for our way of understanding, on this planet, there are overwhelmingly two GENDERS.
Wait, butt why? We could even get some really good butt jokes going!! Levity is also helpful in the learning process.
No there are not, but in some extremely rare cases there can be persons who fit into some in-between grey zone. Ironically, the persons who are actually intersex are trying to appear like one gender or the other and are usually not trying to flaunt their unique gender identity.
Lots. We have asexual reproduction, egg based, sometimes males are the ones who get empregnated. It’s complicated what everyone decided to do to reproduce.
