Why are you paying an exorbitant amount of money for fuels?

I think this is really about power. The political kind. Democrats want to, like China, be the dispensers of power/electric or otherwise. If they can force you to rely on electricity, they can RATION it whenever they want. The model is clear. Energy and power are the goals of this massive rearchitecture of the economy, and will place the power to control travel, just like it's done in China today. This is just one of the levers progressive democrats are trying to take over.

It used to be unconscionable in this country to see government dictate what the economy must do. And now, everywhere we look, democrats are forcing slow downs, enforcing arbitrary shortages, rationing resources, etc. Why? Folks were ignoring them. No one wants democrats in control of any aspect of the economy. They literally destroy everything the touch. The can't even make the force of government work for them. And yet, it's literally all democrats yearn for. To destroy everything.

Democrats want to manage your life.
Republicans want you to manage your life.

I can't name any issue Democrats favor that is not putting them in charge of your life in some form.
You get sick? They want to manage that.
You want to pay lower taxes?
Republicans will help you on that.

I might be mistaken but I believe the Prius quip was to others.
I am the last person trying to force you to live life other than precisely how you want to live it. Carry on.

OK to the error, BTW, I have zero intention to purchase or drive an electric car currently and in the near future.

I am not against the electric car. I was predicting them as the future way back in 1957. That is still my view. I expected it much sooner. But not by forcing all to use them. My idea was based on the use of water. Which still is my idea.
The fuel cell in other words.

Take the common need to chop down a tree.
We can choose to saw them down by hand.
We can saw them down using gasoline in the chain saw.
We can saw them down using an electric chain saw.

So what will you use if you are 15 miles into the woods where you have nothing to plug into?
    A gas powered Generator?
Wait, you will carry into the woods a good sized solar panel when it is pretty cloudy?

No disrespect intended…. I truly don’t know much about electric cars and honestly don’t know if there is an electric 4 wheel truck. If there isn’t then that is a problem.

Global prices for fuel is not sky high.
Some still have the same super low prices they have long had.

Wait…you think the pipeline that hadn’t been built yet had an impact of current day gas prices? Hahahahaha
Regarding the world…the price of oil per barrel isn’t different for each country. Hence why the world is part of the price of oil.

Say you can buy drugs from Canada cheaper. But Biden shuts down Canada.
See what Biden did to prices by shutting down Canadas pipes?

Come to think about it. I believe Trump also for the first time let us buy drugs from Canada too.

Trump Approves Final Plan to Import Drugs From Canada ‘for a Fraction of the Price’

If Tesla came out with a pickup truck that meets the specifications I require at a price I'm willing to pay then I'd consider it. From what I've read the version of that Tesla truck that I would need to match the specs of my current full sized truck will cost over $50,000. I'm not buying that the multiple reasons that I already mentioned. For one I never buy new vehicles, two I have no idea how to wrench on an electric truck, and three I already have 2 perfectly good working trucks so why would I buy a new one? It doesn't make financial sense to me, even with rising gas prices and supposed government rebates from going electric if I sold my current 1/2 ton and bought a Tesla truck it would take years for it to break even.

It's the same reason why I don't buy a brand new 2022 1/2 ton gas truck. I already have a truck and it works just fine....

I don't like subsidizing electric while filling up my trucks with gasoline but I will do it because I have no choice. I live in the real world, the government can play these types of games and there is nothing I can personally do about it. If/when the government continues to raise the price of beef in order to push for less meat consumption for "climate change" I can tell them to pound sand as my freezer is constantly full of wild game and fish so I can get my meat without playing their games. I cannot however refine my own gasoline. So if they decide to jack the price of gas up to like $10 a gallon to punish me for having a gas powered vehicle then I have no choice but to pay it and hope that whoever makes these decisions gets voted out of office next round.

So when you say the world sets prices, you were telling us a joke?
Why do you think Biden killed our deal with Canada? To get us more petroleum?

Actually the price per bbl varies according to country that also has domestic supplies of it's own.

I was on my knees praying Biden would lose.
As you explain, elect Democrats when you want to be ruled.
You have one and he rules.

Worse he has the appearance of having Alzheimer's.

Trump for instance fought big pharma by his law allowing Canada to sell us cheap drugs. And that is also why he wanted the Canadian pipeline. To save you and me a lot of money.

Gas where I live is currently averaged around $4.00 a gallon. It's about 30 cents cheaper if I drive 1/2 hour into town and go to a specific gas station which is what I tend to do. Load up the truck with a bunch of gas cans and fill them up in town and bring them home to save money.

Gas prices are high but it's the grocery prices that are pissing me off. I went to the store last weekend to pick up a few things and I was in shock at how much basic things cost and how little goods were even available. Nearly everything I needed on my list was gone, we didn't even have normal sliced bread available for crying out loud. Spent over $120 and walked out with a mere hand basket worth of groceries, it's ridiculous.

Trying to add information on products from Canada. And you moved them to the globe and I was not liking that at all.

Because of gas and diesel prices everything is shipped to the store that then hikes up prices to pay for shipping.

In 1964 I fed my family of 4 then for about $20 per week and had many bags of food.
