I'll TLDR for everyone: I don't want a woke government, I want a functional working government. You see, after the first 10 minutes my Liberal friends no one gives a damn about "the first ever x here". And NEITHER SHOULD YOU. That's the most frustrating part. What part of your daily life is benefited by first ever x? Tell me, what part of the nation particularly was benefited?

Being woke accomplished nothing, did nothing. You gave yourselves a high-five...and? What else? What's next? Biden(and Democrats, and most importantly us as a whole) would have benefited way more if instead of chasing his woke status, he actually filled his government with competent administrators, people who have proven their success he might've had about half the failures he suffered in his first year at the job. Which also means twice the successes.

You responded to my post but didn't answer any of the questions. I asked questions directly related to your post that I quoted...

Taking 8 weeks off during a MAJOR crisis is not acceptable child or not. Dads suck it up and work even when it’s not convenient. Was someone else doing his job or like most of govt, sitting around and waiting?

If he was planning an adopting a child so soon after getting this position and taking so much time off, there should have been a plan in place. It’s no shocker a business often doesn’t want to invest time and money into someone about to give birth, when they have to pay them to sit home or lose them completely.

Yes I did, this is not a job driving a bus or flipping hamburgers or working on the assembly line, or a customer service desk it is an appointed POSITION as the Secretary of Transportation who serves at the pleasure of the President.

An in general no I do not support 12 weeks paid parental leave for one parent let alone BOTH parents. It didn't exist when I had kids or before that.

Mayor Pete knew what was required of the job when he took, it was already apparent there was a TRANSPORTATION problem and it was getting worse. He wasn't forced to take the job and he accept those demands that would be placed on his time when he accepted it.

So now you answer my questions

How does Pete Buttigieg wanting to be with his child out weigh the current transportation crisis? Why does the ENTIRE country have wait until he has bonded with his child to get something done about this? If he has such a desire to be with the child then resign the post so someone else who can actually manage the job can step in. He has no RIGHT to that position in our government. Biden could dismiss him at a moments notice, why didn't he 8 weeks ago call him in and ask for his resignation if he was not going to be able to do the job and appoint someone who could?

Sorry working at home is not what he was chosen to do as Secretary of Transportation. What don't you understand that we have a TRANSPORTATION CRISIS going on in this counrty. He should be hands on 198 hours a day holding meetings at the Department of Transportation and flying around the country meeting with the port official, trucking executives, unions, warehouse executives and figuring out how to fix it. I have no reason to doubt he knew in February about the upcoming adoption, we also knew then that we had this Transportation crisis and it was getting worse. He should have turned down the job if he knew he would be a part timer for 3 months.

    I ask you

How does Pete Buttigieg wanting to be with his child out weigh the current transportation crisis? Why does the ENTIRE country have wait until he has bonded with his child to get something done about this? If he has such a desire to be with the child then resign the post so someone else who can actually manage the job can step in. He has no RIGHT to that position in our government. And guess what now he flies off to Europe for a fun trip to the "climate summit" where they will all whine and dine and accomplish NOTHING but some declarations.

He can LEAD the efforts and be in charge them and interstate transportation is a FEDERAL MATTER. And yes California is trying to pass a law to require all truckers to in the union which would eliminate independent operators, he could tell the state the feds oppose that and would file suit as it would interfere with interstate commerce.

What exactly do you think IS his job?

I think Mello is making a great case to just get rid of the Department of Transportation and the Secretary of Transportation as according to him they seem to have no role in this country's transportation system and national supply chain issues.

And again, you think he’s the only one who can do that? Or that he can’t do that while on leave? Your own link said he’s been working the entire time! Lol

Please tell me one thing that couldn’t happen because he was on leave. Just one, that he couldn’t delegate and didn’t do himself.

The Transportation Secretary is finally going back to work after an extended absence, and he'll be tackling the current supply chain crisis at its epicenter in California, right?
Nope. In keeping with the Biden administration strategy of being as far away from where the problems are actually happening as possible, he's going to Scotland.

If you can take over a month off from your job, and it doesn't make all that much of a difference, then either you, or your job, or both, is pretty much useless.

Nobody with any sort of real work responsibility can take that much time away from their job.

    Nothing.

Because his job is clearly not all that important if his lackeys can handle it for him for a few months.

That's a situation that's of vital national importance.

But the lefties are just obsessed with their government-sanctioned vacation entitlements, and I guess he figures that's the priority.

Okay, then he didn't take his paternity leave, because, apparently, it's not all that important.

Let's remember that when the lefties start crying for more government-mandated vacation, shall we?

Maybe he could've made it happen faster if he had shown up to work more.

You get more work done when you show up for work, right?

And if it doesn't work that way, then maybe you, or your job, is just not all that important.

It doesn’t, we have an entire dept to pick up the slack. And there was no waiting, he worked the entire time according to your link.

Tell me what is it you think is his role as Secretary of Transportation during this Transportation crisis and why playing mommy at home is more important.
