You don’t know how “authoritarian” until you get here and wander around wondering where all the jackbooted thugs are

BTW the federal government is a conservative one and quite right wing for Australia

    still bloody useless though…..

Your covid lockdown was among the strictest in the world if not the very strictest one.

How long were you forced to remain home?

I never changed anything pal. My dad fought for your sorry island from New Guinea to the Phillipines. You are a third rate power at best.

Americans care as much about Australian opinion of Trump as Sri Lankans care bout Trump.

I think you're just in denial about what's happening.

My rigida ideological perspective is you shouldn't imprison people in a concentration camp if they haven't done anything wrong.

I get it it's your country you don't want to think about it but you need to start thinking about it. People in my country were convinced that putting Japanese people in prison during world War II was for the good of the country as well.

Heed the warning don't just live in denial.

What part of the word 'need' are you confusing with the word 'want'. To repeat (because it now appears English is a second language for you). I don't need (feel required, obligated, forced etc) to brag about my country. That is not the same as being unable to or not wanting to.

All of which means forget what I said earlier about reading - I don't think your up to it! Just stick with big colored pens and coloring in books, that seems to be your level.

So should we arrest and jail everyone caught crossing into the U.S. from Mexico?

Yeh, it's only an often fatal disease that spreads very fast and from people who have no symptoms so everyone is a carrier in the early stages. Oh and it's a particularly agonizing way to die, like being crucified on the inside.

But what the hell, the bars are open

Really? OK then, if you insist.

It depends. Are they entering the country legally? If so then no, you can't arrest them, at least not for the simple act of entering the country. If not, then yes of course you can arrest/detain them. Hint: any claim or refugee status or similar human rights issues fall under the detention part of the answer pending a determination of the person's legal status.

A separate issue is whether you can quarantine them. That is not 'arrest' as defined legally. It's just not, full stop end of story - its a public health issue.

Reading some of the American posts on this thread reminded me of 2008, when a number of boards I was on were temporarily invaded by members of China's '50 cent army'. The similarity in tone really is fascinating. It says something terrible about the US education system that it seems to turn out so many people who are basically indistinguishable from Russian Putinistas or paid Chinese propagandists.

Watching someone basically make up stuff that can be easily fact checked just to thump his chest about 'Murica is truly sad. Playground insults in defence of what is supposed to be the greatest nation in the world.

In what alternate universe has every single person in the country managed to stumble into close proximity with an infected individual at the exact same moment in time?

they COULD be infected. This is the slippery slope that now exists. I will never understand how people can cede liberty to the govt

    Now THAT makes no sense

You get our infection rates are so low that they can use the sewerage system to track the virus?

I understand it perfectly we've seen it happen multiple times through history Australia's building concentration camps and imprisoning citizens there.

We've seen other regimes make it a crime to be a certain type of person.

But you don't understand it's for safety. We need to separate and imprison a certain part of the population possibly ethnically cleanse them later because safety.

This is not like anything else that's ever happened in history the parallels you see just don't exist. It's because we don't understand.

I would say LOL but this is happening to real people.

Well, they're the only REAL 'muricans

All the rest of us are fake Americans. We're uh...sane, that's the word I've heard. Not at Trump rallies, nor at the audits, where the clicking of voting machines being turned into prison bars for Hillary fills the air

But yeh, America is sane again.

I can't wait until 2022, so many Republican Congresspeople are going to be coming home that little boys will pee themselves before they''ll use the lavatory at the train station

No they can't, its mathematically impossible. You cant have all of a population of any significant size infected infected immediately by a smaller number of initial carriers. Transmission of any disease can be modeled by a set of differential equations called the SIR model. (see below)

    https://www.maa.org/press/periodicals/loci/joma/the-sir-model-for-spread-of-disease-the-differential-equation-model.
