"DeSantis criticized “lifetime appointments” for university professors."

"Every five years tenured faculty would be required to go before their university’s board of trustees, which could part ways with them."

Tenure is very difficult for conservatives to obtain.

They want the State University system to move off political indoctrination and back to job skills, learning skills, basic academics and reasoning. They've had enough of the extremists professors who demand regurgitation by students in order to get a decent grade.

The irony of calling this a “counterrevolution” when this is exactly what authoritarian regimes do. They silence anyone they disagree with. Especially academia because they are the people who know how to call a leader out on BS.

 

It is a drastic step. But wokeness is poison that must be sucked out and spit away.

My side? Dude I study colonialism. I had to fight tooth and nail just to be taken seriously. Conservative academics are all just about “yeah quantitative methodology for the win!!!”. My research is all qualitative.

LOL! If he wants to essentially get rid of tenure, he will have to be prepared for ANY serious academic not touching Florida State Universities with a 10 foot pole. Tenure is the ONE thing that makes it attractive for academics to go through the long and risky process of years of low-payed PhD and postdoc positions before they are eligible for a tenure track position. Without tenure, a university career will not be attractive at all.
