We have had Clinton, twice, Bush, Rutherford B Hayes, and DJT. But the first was John Quincy Adams in 1824.

The point that I was making is that of the 58 Presidential elections, it is generally that the popular vote coincides with the electoral college. And yes, both parties have tried to persuade the electoral college not to cast a vote for the candidate because of the lack of popular support. But like I said, a first, in 1824, where the popular vote did not coincide with the electoral college vote.

As part of a transition team they don't need the direct guidance of the POTUS to pack up his office. That allows a rogue employee to pack up classified documents to be transported to his residence. Heck! The SC had one of their clerks leak documents and they still haven't found out (or revealed) who it was.

Your point wasn't accurate. Just cop to it and spare us this backtracking nonsense.

So, and let's just flesh this out a bit.. when you say, took classified documents, does that mean that suddenly, anyone who did this would be subject to this kind of political attack? Lots of folks, it seems have abused this, not the least of whom would be the former president, Obama, no? Ms Clinton certainly seems in scope. Biden? LOL.. We have the F'in laptop.

I'll tell you this. Democrats certainly seem to be intentionally working to elect Trump again. Do you suppose that Trump might not want to retaliate? Didn't it ever occur to democrats that they are actively promoting Trump by doing these things?

This is one of those times where you take either tact. Democrats are either really stupid, or they are openly courting another Trump presidency. And while I can see perhaps why democrats might want that, it really doesn't bode well for democrats and their own inability to manage their own world.

Wasn't that clever? You hope Trump will beat Al Capone. He might well succeed, unless a tax law, or a law about.... illegally detaining official documents... finally catches him, or.....
Remember how "The Firm" was finally caught...but this was a novel.

Hopefully that Presidents are not above the law. That NO politician, no matter how high up they are, is above the law. If you think that scares me because you believed I'm as partisan as you are, think again. I couldn't care less what political party a criminal belongs to. I just want to see EVERYBODY who abuses power for personal gain in prison.

The Democrats keep Trump in the news. They're really not as politically bright as I once gave them credit for. But then they don't need to be very bright when they can weaponize the FBI and DOJ to go after their political adversaries.

maybe, but the raid seemed to be timed to the committee and justice department acquisition of alex jones' material.

since ms maxwell does not have epstein's video collection (if she did she would not be in jail) and if trump had them, would mar a lago be the place to keep them? that would be very fun stuff, but, of course, we will never know.

You do understand they have investigations first, then go to a judge if they have enough probable cause THEN get the warrant? This is an investigation.

And YES TFG SAYS THERE WAS A WARRANT SERVED!

I think the raid does have to do with classified documents. Happily, any other evidence of a crime they find in his home is fair game.

I confess to being highly entertained by the right wing freak out.

FBI Investigating Politicians Is Tyranny Now
First they came for the former presidents who had hoarded stolen White House documents at their Florida golf clubs, and I did not speak out….

On Monday evening, the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-A-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida in a search related to (according to the New York Times) the ex-president’s handling of White House records that he was supposed to turn over to the National Archives and Records Administration at the end of his presidency.

News of the raid has Republicans and conservative commentators’ heads exploding.

    • First off, you might notice that Team “Lock Her Up!” seems to have a very different idea of what it means to investigate elected or formerly elected leaders now. After all, if they can hold an ex-president accountable for alleged crimes, if he can be subject to the rule of law like everyone else, imagine 1984 Orwell Big Brother!!

I thought the apoplectic response to Cassidy's damning testimony was fun. This is much better.

If the documents were found during the search, he obviously had stolen them. And the Archives had required them to be returned many months ago; he didn't comply, of course: he's above the law.

But if marijuana is found in your house, you'd have a hard time proving you didn't know it.

That's about as much of a "challenge" as deciding what you want for dinner. He'd been told for OVER A YEAR that these documents were in his possession and he needed to turn them over.

No need for a long and hollow digression. We will both discover how the justice system works.

They were being honest. They could have just given a criminal referral immediately. They decided to try to cooperate with him . . . which resulted in him holding out for a year. The FBI apparently has reason to believe that he didn't fully cooperate. This ain't rocket surgery.

Can't figure out how you can get anywhere, because you would always miss the bus, just as you miss the point. Intentionally, of course.
And in doing so, you make my point- by ignoring values and standards, you can distort discussion, laws, justice- and mislabel anything, for any purpose.
Are you really foolish enough to think that a government should be allowed to do that?
