“Bros,” billed as an all gay comedy, is a box office disaster.

    'Rational' environmentalism vs irrational environmentalism

Irrational environmentalism is called 'Alarmism', not wokeness. Wokism can infect environmentalism by using these concerns to get special benefits for special groups and to enact global social welfare programs for chosen groups.

Brokeback is a cinematic masterpiece though. Very difficult to compare it to regular films, period.

Teenage girls loved CMBYN, for some reason. I think it was the scenery and the Chalemet :D

    You're wrong there, Bud.

BBM is a bone fide work of art. The gay element actually worked against it.

Is that it was into it? I figure it would have been for the drama as that seems to be of more interest to women.

I found it boring and the peach scene was kind of gross.

And the dialogue between Elio and his father was stupid.

I think the gay support for transgenderism is hurting their cause and proving their underlying perversions

Its funny you say that. I have never seen gay people trying to indoctrinate. It always seems to be trans/non-binary folks pulling this crap.

If there was something new about Jim Crow, but they've worked it to death.

I've been a supporter of equal rights for gays since I was a kid and realized I was strongly attracted to females. They have an itch different than me. So be it. I wasn't going to change.

But I'm really tired of gratuitous casting of gay characters in media and then either making jokes or preaching. I don't need my consciousness raised or lectures about tolerance. So, who is the movie aimed at—straight people, homosexuals, everyone?

My cisgender senior high school students were typically quite comfortable around gay students and were often friends. They were bored with it all, too. My gay students would have preferred not making it a huge issue with cisgender and other students.
If this movie is heavily directed at gays, I can see why it has a limited audience. If it's directed at a more general audience, it could be moving or funny to young people who dominate moviegoers if it isn't too preachy.
You'll no doubt find it streamed.

Well yeah, they loved the romance of course. But it was mainly the scenery/location, and the boy!

I'm not sure they were really into the boy because he's been in a lot of movies I didn't do very well. I think the only other movie was in that did really well and I did much better than call me by your name was dune remake.

Are girls into boys like that cuz they weren't when I was a kid.

All good. I talked my hubby into watching it (he's .. let's just say .. not big on the LGBT), just because of the quality of the film. He averted his eyes for the two very short confrontational scenes, but otherwise survived. When asked whether he thought it was good, he said "I didn't fall asleep". That's high praise coming from a man who only stays awake for sport. In the thirty years I've known him, I can count maybe five films which didn't put him to sleep within half an hour, yet he can watch cricket for five days straight.

Fair enough. That's the thing about great art .. it can be divisive. For me it was all about the "less is more" approach taken by the Director, and the insanely good performances of the two leads. They were painfully real.

Yeah the two leads were pretty good it's just so much of the movie was empty. And it was depressing I find that off-putting.

Its about a serial killer who killed gays, so to call it a gay movie is weird, and Netflix actually admitted to it, and removed the categorization.

Are you kidding? That guy has/had a massive fanbase in young females. YUGE I tell you. When girls are at that age when they're not quite ready for manly men, they almost always favour these pretty and slightly 'soft' looking boys. That's what drives the whole KPop thing, incidentally. Our tastes mature as we do. We don't start liking body hair and the slightly 'beat up' look of a manly-man until later. I remember my older sister's cohort being madly into this guy, for example. If you don't recognise him, it's David Cassidy. That's one very pretty man, and exactly what teen girls like!

Yes, it's starkly empty. But that was the artform the Director chose, deliberately. It highlighted the state of their lives in that time and place.

Can't argue that it wasn't depressing though, because it was. I would say beyond depressing actually. Closer to traumatic!

Folks want to see a comedy. Whether it is "gay" or not doesn't matter. When these type movies are made the story and genre are secondary. This is why they suck.

Is that a guy or a boy looks like a boy to me.

But I guess you're right the girls were kind of into pretty boys.
