Trump's authorization of the DC Guard a couple of days before when he got wind that the crowd would be much bigger than anticipated does not at all show incitement. Trump's virtually begging Pelosi to invite the DC Guard clearly does not at all show incitement to riot and break into the Capitol.

What is the Dems message? Same as always, - better healthcare. education, immigration reform, pro-choice, legal pot, gun control, lower insurance costs (in Florida), cutting property taxes. Those who support those views will keep voting for them. Also, those who are not comfortable with what has become of the GOP might also vote for them,

 

Part of the problem with the Dem's messaging is the existential threats Repubs pose (climate change, democracy) are not things one can concretely identify as being an immediate threat. Democracy and the environment are being eroded over time. By the time the evidence can no longer be ignored it's too late.

 

Unfortunate but true.

Several of the party "leaders" were involved in the events leading up to January 6. There's solid evidence of this, but the Democrats have not done a good job with these facts. Also, WRT to the economy, the Dems have done a poor job of messaging their successes, and have allowed the GOP to blame Biden for inflation, which is absurd.
