Saving the environment is simply a selling or advertising gimic for EVs. EVs do have advantages, but they also have disadvantages as well. Same with traditional combustion engine vehicles when you have to perform maintenance every few months, tire rotations, oil changes, engine fluid changes, and so forth. Many of the same types or forms of maintenance is done with EVs, and the battery is both the key and limitation of the EVs.
I don't know if I'd go that far with the comparison. Yugos were junk, but in a communist/socialist society, that's all people can afford. I'm more of a fan of the hybrid. My wife drives a Cayenne, and it's a great car. When we bought it, we looked at other hybrids along with straight electrics and made our decision. I drive a Toyota Tundra with a 5.7L.
Funny that a socialist drives a German car and a Japanese car. He is supposed to support Green America, and the American automotive industry and he should be using mess transit for work. BTW, we have Prius simply because we are cheapskates and big fat assed SUV for trips.
A galaxy note 5. About 10 years old. Still a damn good phone, mind you. But you're okay with slave labor, as long as I also use a smart phone? BTW, the vast majority of that cobalt will be in the lithium ion EV batteries.
So you also check any dept store product from China too. That aside, you have a smart phone built from child labor, so I guess you feel guilty about that too.
What does death of the planet mean anyway? The planet isn't going to die, it's an inanimate object swirling around in space. It's just a rock.
It is about the expected subsidies if the democrats win in 2024. Obviously, most middle class people will not be able to afford an electric car without subsidies, and the automakers are counting on federally subsidized electric cars to save the world. BTW, since EV’s do not buy gas, how are they going to fund roads? No one has stated the obvious… they want dumb Americans to keep thinking life is free.
Once there is a mileage or usage tax, the govt will get their money Don’t worry. They got this, hehe.
Can't argue with this statement, a lot of truth here. I also think saving the earth by mining metals with child slaves and to make batteries with no clean disposal methods, isn't necessarily good for ole mother earth.
Depends on your research... Nobody seems to ever mention that our power grid can't handle millions of electric cars (it can't even handle heavy snow storms) or that more nuclear power plants will be needed for electricity. Nevermind the fact that most problems today, within the first 60,000 miles, are electrical. Doesn't sound too enthusing to be part of the reason the grid is crapping out or more nuclear power plants will be needed. That doesn't exactly scream "SAVE THE PLANET" to me. Research would also show that the planet will correct and save itself. How many people are told any of that? I'm usually called a science denier for bringing that fact up.
Very true, but if you're getting anything like that done every few months then something's wrong. Maybe the oil change and tire rotation but those are usually 7,500 to 10,000 miles now with traditional oil, 15,000+ with synthetic. Engine fluids like brake fluid, radiator fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, etc won't happen for a long long time.
Worse is performance: If you are delivering alfalfa hay by horse cart, how far can you go before you fed your horses the rest of the hay? Then how do you get home? At the end of the day, transportation boils down to heat. Diesel heat as ancient organic stored heat consumed in an engine system, or electric that uses Diesel or natural gas or manufactured solar panels to run generators to add electricity to lithium batteries. The efficiency of combustion is more horse than the brainiacs will admit.
Great point! How many all electric planes are there??? Lol. If it was efficient, airlines and the military would do it. Thanks for proving my point! Have a good weekend.
