House Panel Calls To Defund Federal Agencies That Stonewall Congressional Probes
    [IMG]
'Biden administration accused of defying congressional authority by being reluctant to comply with legitimate oversight requests...'

I have been wondering why Congress doesn't use their power of the purse, for years.

'Republicans on the House Oversight Committee are calling for budget cuts to federal agencies that refuse to cooperate with lawmakers’ investigations, warning that failure to discipline agencies that deny oversight-related requests risks setting a dangerous precedent for stonewalling future probes.'

Indeed it does. Show up or see a 10% cut in next year's budget.

Joe Biden is a lawless man running a lawless Administration.

“Agency heads appointed by President Biden, and at times, the White House itself, have repeatedly defied congressional authority to conduct oversight over the operations of the executive branch and how the Administration is carrying out its duties under the law,” the lawmakers wrote in the letter while accusing various federal agencies of responding to House Oversight requests with “reluctance, recalcitrance, and outright obstruction.”

'the U.S. State Department failed to provide documents and communications related to taxpayer funds going to the United Nations for the purpose of serving the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) agenda. The ESG movement has faced backlash from conservatives, and others, who allege that it’s rooted in leftist or even neo-Marxist political advocacy and targets industries like fossil fuels or encourages taking progressive positions on big social issues like transgenderism.'

Why are under no obligation to fund this divisive Leftist social engineering.

'“Federal agencies obstructing meaningful congressional oversight should have their budgets cut,” Mr. Comer, who chairs the House Oversight Committee, said in a statement.'

I agree. Please read the whole thing and discuss.

Just once I wish the Republican congress could do something productive rather than loud. Time was when they yelled they had something to yell about and we all knew what.

Comer is this cycle's poster buoy of fake news. He's missed the barn endlessly.

'The U.S. Constitution gives Congress the primary authority to raise and spend money, known as the “power of the purse.”'

'Conservatives have long argued that vast swathes of the federal government have been captured by the progressives over the years, with billions in taxpayer dollars being channeled to fund left-leaning agendas.'

    A little less talk,
    and a lot more action.

Perhaps they feel they can use the well worn argument used several years back of executive privilege.

Well, are the GOP doing anything effective to disabuse them of that notion?

The first think that needs to be de-funded are Gomer's and Gym's committees.

After 3 years of producing nothing but Republican propaganda, they are illegitimate , non-productive and weaponized.
Gomer and Gym are lawless and doing nothing but advancing their partisan political agenda.
The first thing a Democratic House needs to do is investigate Gomer and Gym over their weaponization of the House committee system and for corruption and influence peddling.

(see how that works ? Other side of the same coin)

Nothing they can do is more productive than reducing the size of federal government.

Certainly the waste and duplication should be eliminated.

They don't reduce it, they only shift it. Show me one budget since Nixon where they reduced the budget or number of federal employees.
    THEY ARE LYING TO YOU!
They are lying to you to get you to accept not collecting taxes from the rich and then borrowing it from them instead with interest.
They are lying to you pure and simple. Even Reagan had started raising taxes which Bush Sr continued to do and Clinton tweaked into a positive balance despite the Republican led congress budgeting more money than his proposal asked for. Jr turned around and destroyed that. Now the budget is make believe because they'll just keep raising the debt limit and spending like there's no limit because there isn't.

I think federal government has to be reduced by around 70%. Most of it is waste, duplication and activities that go beyond constitutional powers.

I agree completely. That is why I think there is nothing congress can do that is more important than reducing the size of federal government. I believe that is what I said.

Congress is never going to do that.

I learned that lesson watching the deficit balloon in Reagan’s time.

    • Balanced Budget Amendment, and
    • An amendment that empowers the State Legislatures, if a majority passes the identical bill, to send it to the president for his signature, with veto override authority on the agreement of 2/3rds of the the state legislature.
Right now Congress is the only game in town and they are unresponsive to us. Greater power and involvement by the State Legislatures would reduce their monopoly power over the budget, an authority they are abusing to our harm. Our current inflation, is being driven by deficit spending, is reducing our real wages, and they again refused to reduce spending.

And strangely it won't get government any closer to living within its means. Just more money to spend. Perhaps it won't happen.

    LMAO

Oh yes, bring it on !

Just for giggles , what legitimate oversight role will the audio serve ? Rightie propaganda ?

Gomer and Gym need to be investigated for influence peddling and corruption when the House swings back Democrat.
