Defend yourself against what? Another guy with à gun. It really is ridiculous.
There was an American woman on UK tv tonight who justified her gun as because she is a single woman with kids. She keep it in à locked box in à close.
Lady, by the time you got to your close, unlocked the box and loaded it , your kids would be dead.
Dont you see how ridiculous the whole justification thing is??
OTOH unless any thieves are out and out lunatics who love killing children, they wouldnt harm them if she just handed over what they want. Probably insured anyway. But they would if she waved à gun around.
If you have a gun, you are part of the problem.

One wonders how many Americans are on foreign political forums advocating to strip foreign citizens of their rights in a country they don't even live in?

It's almost as though they look across the pond and they're jealous that they're subjects

What did those 2 civilians say on the 911 call - that they were shot at or there is one shooter? If they did not see the shooter exit the car they would not know how many shooters there were

    So, you avoid London?

“LONDON -- A surge of stabbings in London was blamed Monday for the city overtaking New York's monthly murder tally for the first time in modern history. Fifteen people were murdered in London during February, compared to 14 in New York, according to police figures.

The British capital also suffered 22 fatal stabbings and shootings in March, higher than the 21 in New York. There have been 10 fatal stabbings in London in the last 19 days, following on from the 80 fatal stabbings recorded in the city last year.”
    CBS NEWS, WORLD, ***London's murder rate surpasses New York's for 1st time ever***, APRIL 3, 2018 / 10:36 AM / CBS/AFP.

It is not ridiculous. People hear someone trying to break in, they get up, get the gun and hopefully shoot them dead as door nails.

That's a very interested but rather misguided opinion that you have.

You are assuming she would be unable to access her gun safe. If someone was outside banging on her front door she would have plenty of time.

There was a recent robbery here in town roughly a year ago, were the murderer went to rob the store clerk and the store clerk gave up the money and the murderer shot him anyways.

I bet that store clerk wished he had a gun. Being a store clerk myself and having heard that scenario a mile away from my store that I am employed at....

If someone tries to rob me I will act like I'm giving up and if I see an opportunity I'm going to take my knife and stab them in the neck and take their gun and shoot them until they're dead, or until the gun simply goes empty. And that's only because I do not carry a gun.

You can take your chances hoping that a robber won't hurt you but that's not something I'm willing to bet on. How myopically naive.

Dont be daft. Americaans love Brits. I was à british emigrant to the USA and found nothing but a welcome.
Further Americans are proud of their European héritage. Especially around the East Coast. They talk about their Italian/Greek/Scots/Irish /Basque héritage. Trump used his morher's européen héritage ad nauseam.
Enough of your garage. And your poor attempt at trolling. Go practise on someone else.

The first time I lived abroad, in 1974, we had a pep talk at the embassy. The spokesman said, "You'll wonder what you did to make the French hate you. The answer is, you didn't do anything. Some people hate America because it's so big."

That was off the mark a tad, but I know what she meant.

The UK was far safer when its subjects cold carry guns and its police could not.

Only and armed public can keep the peace on the streets. The UK keeps proving it.

We see it here every single day. They hate us and more importantly they hate the rights that we enjoy that they do not have. It is true that misery does love company

I think we might consider deputizing all CC permit holders. They aren't criminal by definition. I want them everywhere.

It depends on who is staging the play.
Where the players are. The timing. Whether she hears anything.
Tell you what. The installation of big bright security lights would be a far safer bet. Add à big dog and you can sleep soundly.
You are of à single tracked mind. Guns are not the only défense available.

Americans tend to like most Brits they meet.
Most Americans, historically, have never liked Europe or its governments.
Hence the Monroe Doctrine among other things.

A gun does not eat 20 lb of dog food a week or bark when you're trying to sleep.

You think that the presence of lights deters criminals? Again.... How myopically naive of you

They saw a gunman exit the vehicle and that they were shot at. The shooter left the vehicle because it was crashed.

There never was such a time.
Guns were more easy to get though before our one and only school massacre...Dunblane.
Govt quickmy tightenzd the right to have a gun and the UK has never has such an évent since. Probably about 20 or more years ago.
Spécial police have always been able to carry guns.

    No.
So the huge amount of trade, NATO , THE G7 and 20 doesnt exist?
BTW I am referring to now not 150 years ago.
And you have utterly failed to refer to the wistful and proud references to ancestors so much so that Americans come to Europe to find their home towns and graves. Trump even lukes to invest in the UK because of his morher, for heavens saké.
They tend to like our hospitality too...as we do when you pay the bills.
OTOH Europe thinks America is nuts.

BTW I forgot to say that Americans quite l8ked the French in the 18th century when she helped you against the British.
And appreciated the principles of the French Révolution which was à catalyst to yours as well as a model for your DOI and Constitution.
You really should refresh your knowledge of American history.

I understand. British guns were superior, but tactics, leadership and numbers do matter.
Put them all together and you have a lethal combination.

This is known as a 'false equivalence fallacy'
ie a simple example of a false equivalence is saying that a knife and dynamite are both tools that can be used as
weapons, so they're pretty much the same thing, and therefore if we allow people to buy knives at the store, then
we should also allow them to also buy dynamite.

Imagine if 19 abortions were performed on students in a high school...

You reckon that the moronic hypocrites that support this situation wouldn’t immediately spring into law-making action...?

You're not commenting that the bar can be lower and that semi-auto can be gone.
You can keep hunting a deer with a sniper rifle.

Semi-auto deer rifles will never go away. Too many hunters need a second shot.

You are still not commenting on the issue that the bar can be lower to comply with the constitution.
    I guess you're conceding.
