Many gun control advocates get and recognize their DGU stats from recorded instances where guns were discharged and wounded or killed their assailants. They don’t acknowledge instances of DGUs where no gun was discharged.
I found it interesting, no long ago, where the media, and many in this forum, criticized the off duty fellow at the McDonalds in Chicago was caught on video being beaten by a couple of thugs. He pulled a gun, stopped the attack, but didn’t fire his gun. It was a successful DGU, but you wouldn’t know it from the critics that framed him as the bad guy in the scenario because he pulled a gun. I wager that incident was not recorded as a DGU.
