A God who has given us free will would allow us to rid slavery as we choose. He would drop enough hints that it was wrong, his followers would be among the first to recognize this, and then take the necessary - and very arduous - steps to remove it. Funny, that is exactly what happened - its Christian groups that begin the abolitionist movement.

Your silly faith? Decidedly silent on the subject until after it was solved.

Now however, there is a real test of slavery - human sexual servitude. Christians abhore this practice, yet atheists? They want to legalize prostitution, even though its documented time and time again that such legalization feeds human supply chains of slavery, rape, and torture. Your fellow atheists on this forum were all for such policy changes, whole Christians, heavily out numbered by your fellow cult members, were - as is always the case with the reality of slavery - the only ones saying it was wrong.

So what you really mean, is that you are against slavery when someone else has solved it for you - so that you can run around accusing non-slave owners of being slave owners and turning a blind eye to modern slavery.

Well, as long as you can puff up your non-weigh lifting little chest ...

I say Islam is incredibly violent because of the 19,000+ terrorist attacks figure (since 9/11 alone!) on that web site, and you apparently disagree. Show us how I'm wrong, and why modern Secular Humanists have, what, NO terrorist attacks to their credit since 9/11 (well at least not remotely close to 19,000+).

I do love it when atheists pretend they are masters of religion because they resorted to a bogoted web site and consider it the same level of expertise as a lifetime practitioner of the faith?

After all, why bother with facts when you can just denounce people as slave owners? Silliness.

And people sign up for this faith that preaches expertise by bigotry and osmossis? Shame.

Jesus will return (as a Muslim), they believe. "Believers in Jesus" might be more appropriate than "followers", however.

    1. SO HOW MANY ISLAMIC TERRORIST ATTACKS SINCE 9/11 IS THE CORRECT FIGURE? I say 19,000+, and you say ________? Please enlighten us. Where is a more accurate figure?
You're just attacking that web site because you don't like the massive violence associated with that violent religion.

    2. Enlighten us as to how many Islamic terrorists since 9/11 IS ACCEPTABLE to you, to not call it a violent religion. 10? 1000? 10000? How many? Please give us a figure. I say any more than, what, FIVE, would be too many. But what do YOU say?

Quick quiz!: This week alone, people have been objecting to banning sex slavery...was it Muslims, or modern Secular Humanists who did this?
    Answer:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=sex...pw.r_qf.&fp=c30346fdbe901691&biw=1155&bih=690

Someone like Sam Harris is far more moral than someone like Mohammad. Banning sex slavery should be a no-brainer, but not in Islam....they also can't often bring themselves to condemning marriage with 8 year old little girls, too, especially in Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Why? Because of Qur'an 33:51. Mohammad is the ultimate role model to these people....

Well, since I have actually been hunting them, the number is actually quite small. You see most of the attacks that bigots list while trying to smash other people with their bigotry could best be termed combat. You see when an errant US bomb kills a family, that is collateral damage. When the Taliban kill a collberator, whose collberation lead to the death of fellow combatnts, its ... terrorism - rather than assymetric warfare - guerilla war - which has been around for ... ever.

Tell me, was it terrorism when the Vietcong assassinated South Vietnamese officials? Was it terrorism when they stormed the US Embassy? How about Sri Lankan Tigers who resisted the government for decades? Rhodesian freedom fighters? Actuially terrorists for resisting colonial rule using the same tactics as the Taliban? Did you know the basis of the MRAP's hull comes from vehicles first designed in counter insurgency by the Rhodesian government? Odd, eh?

But heh, I am sure the intent is discussion rather than just another anti-religious smear fest from the cult of atheism. never a solution to terrorism, just calling people who are clearly not terrorists - a bunch of terrorists.

Well, we all see why you chose your faith - and it has nothing to do with logic, just bigoted finger pointing.

Gotta love the constant drone of rapist! Murderer! Terrorist! Enslaver!

Most people who see peole running around calling innocent people criminals refer such antics to the mental health clinic.

The intent here kiddo, is debate - not a flame fest. If you insist on the latter, I hope you don't seriously expect to find anyone who respects your antics do you?

Mayeb you should see what your fellow atheists had to say about this in the poll section.

And once again, what did you do? Right. You used your amazing google skills to find ONE instant of some other secular humanist, not you, doing nothing - but could not use your amazing google skills to find even a single example of Christians or Muslims doing it?

    Well, here you go:

    http://www.renaissance.com.pk/mared95.html

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/jordan-pulls-3-paralympians-over-sex-allegations-102405998--oly.html

    http://www.counterpunch.org/2012/08/24/the-new-white-slave-trade/

I am sure, being so vehemently anti-slavery, that you have heard ofthe Rachale project? Are a major donor? Volunteer?

Well, that took an exhaustive 15 seconds to find ... whew, I probably shoudl take a break or something right?

Or is this just something as simple as a self esteem issue? Another way word atheist who wants to be patted on the head for not wanting to own slaves? Well, congratulations, you have FINALLY decided to join 99.9% of the world. No one else get fan fare, and fo some silly reason, ONLY atheists seem to want to run around not just condeming slavery - but accusing clearly non-slave owners of being slave owners so they can condemn them?

Rape, genocide, murder, slavery, etc. - good thing that atheism is here to .. wait, its still happening. Go figure. Let us know when you would rather join humanity than a cult please.

A God who has given us free will and who also outright stated "Thou shalt not murder/kill" on more than one occasion needs to drop hints to his followers that slavery is evil and wrong, even lay out a variety of laws regarding slave ownership instead of just outright stating "thou shalt not own slaves of any kind"?

    Well that's baffling.

No, I really believe that the stagnant moral codes and laws in the Bible during these times has more to do with the beliefs people held at the time. It was moral and acceptable to own slaves so of course the religious laws of the time would reflect this. If someone were to make a new religion during this era the morals of this day and age would most likely be reflected in that belief system just like they were reflected in the belief systems of the past.

Yes, and what happened to abolitionists in Egypt and Rome who proclaimed, "No slavery?"

They were wiped out - without question or pause.

If only things in the real world were as simple as atheists make them out to be, after all, the modern problem of slavery is sexual bondage, and all the scions of atheism have to do is say, "No sexual bondage!," and the problem will be solved?

It takes more than just disbelief to make something not true, but I did say that I am not going to argue one way or the other about this.

If God is real like you believe him to be then yes, he could have just said to his people, slavery is evil and wrong, thou shalt not have slaves of any kind" and the problem would be solved amongst his followers. Don't you find it a little odd that an all loving deity permits and even has rules regarding slave ownership rather than just outright stating that it is not right to keep slaves, just as he said it is not right to murder other human beings?

Yes, God could have reached down and solved all our problems for us. In fact, he can solve all our problems right now.

Unfortunately for both free will and God's Plan, we deliberately separated from God for a time in order to come down and experience life, and choice, and consequence. Now, I think the story of freeing of the slaves is one of human triumph, proof of God's faith in us.

You however, who do not believe in God, wish to be enslaved by his will? Prevented from doing anything but what he tells you? And you are against slavery right? Even from God?

Well, and finally, you will notice that there is nothing in atheism, nor secular humanism, that specifically says that we shouldn't keep slaves? Perhaps, then as now, most people just considered it self-evident? With only atheists needing it to be spelled out for them explicitly?

Well, if that is what it takes for you to realize that slavery is wrong, so be it. The rest of us will look at the institution of slavery, conclude that is wrong, and do something about it - just as we do with modern sexual bondage. A subject atheism and secular humanism are decidedly quiet about? I guess you need that spelled out for explicitly too, eh?

Well, here you go, "It is wrong to buy and sell humans and subject them to sex and prostitution."

    There you go.

God is not going to outlaw slavery or prevent it, because He uses it to punish His people.

He outlawed a lot of things, that we, as a society, fully condone, support and do.

Yep, I and all my fellow Christians are enslaved.

What a silly ass faith that drives people to see everyone around them as being tied to a yoke and collar ... while ordering a drink at Star Bucks?

I guess what atheists really mean is, "We will denegrate you and call you slaves if you disagree with us!" So is that arrogance or paranoia, or both?

For the record, God has both commandments and guidance. For example, if someone tells you that you probably shouldn't drink - especially if you are an alcoholic, that would be termed guidance, even if such guidance conflicts with the legal code - its still a bad idea to drink if you have a drinking problem.

I know, this is hard ....

Secular humanism is thinly veiled egoism. You think you have the right to do whatever you want. It's kind of silly. The universe is 14 billion years old, made up of millions of galaxies and trillions of stars in each galaxy, yet Humanists have the gall to say that humans are the measure of all things? We have one tiny planet around one mid-sized star in an average galaxy in an average galaxy cluster. It's like a dog's flea proclaiming that the whole city of New York was built just for him.

At least religious people are smart enough not to make a single species on a single planet the center of the universe.

There's no way to determine how old the universe is. We don't have an accurate standard for measuring anything that old.

Actually we do .. start with cosmic background radioation, and then see why scientists are able to date the age the universe with realtive accuracy.
