The thing is, people will access a weapon or make use of something as a weapon if they wish go out to cause harm. Knives are a logical weapon to use in the absence of an assault rifle. So the pro gun owners therefore claim what's the point in banning assault rifles? There's quite a difference between the weapons. For example, people can rush and overpower a guy with a knife, starring down the barrel of various gun is another matter.

Comparing knives and guns is like comparing apples to pears.

Wow, there was all kinds of nonsense in this reply. I don’t know what country you are from, but in this one, our radical left are basically fascists, and yes one of their top priorities are taking away guns.

Does not benefit the leftist narrative. They cannot blame President Trump or evil white men for that.

Perhaps, but i'm being realistic. If enough people really got fed up over gun deaths (i'm talking in the area of over as an example,100,000,000 people or higher) and demanded change, you'd get change.

Well, you are touching on another subject entirely. Can a knife be used to murder someone? Yes. A rock? Yes. Your fingers down someone's throat? Yes. Pointed sticks? Yes. But we are actually discussing "indiscriminate mass shootings" and knives or rocks or pointed sticks ain't going to do the job. Taking guns out of the hands of Americans is the speediest way to put a stop to mass shootings. In fact, without guns, there can be no mass shooting at all.

    Without hesitation.

It sounds to me like you are living in a psychological blender, never knowing who to trust or who to fear .... so you are compelled to fear everyone.

That's the 'rule of thumb' alright and that is why the NRA, etc. are hell-bent for leather to discredit anyone and anything that employs your simple & sensible logic.

Because I don't feel like paying tens of thousands of dollars for machine guns that waste ammo by the bucket load and I have no reason to own a flame thrower.

They're fun to shoot but I'd probably never actually buy one.

Do you use all your guns for hunting or just target practice?

And that is the reason why this nation opened up Pandora's Box long ago in regards to firearms and citizens owning them. If the government ever decides that "guns ought not be allowed in the hands of Americans" then they will have to figure out how to actually disarm a heavily armed populace.

The 2nd Amendment in itself defends the 2nd Amendment. It was specifically designed this way.

Um, I don’t fear anyone. What gives you that impression? Being prepared is not living in fear. Do you drive your vehicle without a spare tire? Do you not keep some extra savings in case of hard times? Same idea. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

So we will have mass bombings, mass stabbing, or people slamming into crowds instead. Yay, much better.

Ummm... drunk driving is illegal. That conversation happened decades ago. If it were happening now, the nut jobs on this forum would be complaining about having their right to drive drunk infringed upon. Arguing in favor of selling AR15s to teenagers makes as much sense as arguing in support of legalizing drunk driving, because, you know... Freedom.

Your argument is a bit skewed. It is not illegal to own a car or to drink alcohol. When someone drinks, drives and kills someone, do you blame the booze company, the auto manufacturer or the person who drank and drove? And after such a crime occurs, do you call for the elimination of booze and cars?

Hey.....I know! Why don't we just outlaw drug use? If we did that it would probably cut the homeless situation by 80%. After we outlaw guns, let's outlaw divorce. Think of all the broken homes we could prevent! This outlawing things should be easy!

It is very clear that Americans are living in fear. Carrying guns won't help you change a flat tire.
I'm still waiting for an answer on how many stabs-per-second a semi-automatic assault knife can deliver so that drive-by stabbings can occur. No answer? Or maybe the country will be under attack from quick-toss multiple knife-throwers at the shopping malls, schools, post offices, cinemas, churches? And, by the way, how far can a series of knives be thrown when compared to an assault rifle? No my friend, I'm afraid that your logic doesn't hold up to even the slightest scrutiny.

Guns need to be banned if you want to end mass shootings. But that goes without say .... doesn't it?

Is drunk driving illegal? Yes. Is selling an AR15 to an 18 year old illegal? No. The point ought to be obvious, especially in the context of what I was replying to. There's nothing skewed about my argument.

You seem to think you have a point.

You're arguing in support of teenagers having continued legal access to AR15s as this country deals with one mass shooting after another. Your judgment on what's 'Lame' really doesn't mean anything.

I 100% disagree about the need for the second amendment to be repealed that's not an assumption.

I totally understand your view point. I may be slightly more into some forms of gun control than you but I want to also make clear I dont belive any for of fire power should be off limits either. I only want to get the criminals and I completely understand your point of wanting the government out of your life as much as possible on this issue. Government is generally not the answer.

Mental health isnt the whole issue though. It is an issue I totally agree but gang violence along with other murders being committed isn't always a mental health issues.

I would prefer to not affect legal gun owners in any way except give them more freedoms it's just a hard issue to tackle.
