Ok, cynicism it is. Why are Muslims cheering these doodleheads? Because they want to bring America, and all it stands for, to her knees. Of course you are cheering.
There's a decent America and there's a rotten America. Everybody, muslims , Americans, whoever, can unite in bringing down the latter.
The American agricultural sector provides Americans and the rest of the world only the best in growth hormone and antibiotic-injected beef.
What they term as "corporate greed" is better termed profit motive and it is the profit motive that has created every nickel of wealth in our society. Not some of it. All of it. Because this group is unemployed with nothing else to do, it doesn't change that. What they are doing is arguing the wrong side of the issue. It is profit motive that will one day get these people employed. They would better spend their time looking for work and finding ways to help the private enterprise system to gain even more profit.
And where did the jobs come from that allow people to work? Don't tell me government because government doesn't produce wealth. It spends it. It came from private enterprise and private enterprise cannot exist without a profit. Sorry. I know you hate it but it is the way things work.
Has anyone noticed that the overwhelming majority of these protesting kids are White? Where are the People of Color?
Seems like the UK leader has this idea too - get rid of personal debt. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-15171917
Well, gain... yes, but not necessarily profit, and perhaps not even personal gain. There are those who do charity work and do not get paid. The gain? Well, I suppose you get experience, show you are willing to work (all good on the resume) and those needing charity gain the services you provide. Certainly, when out of work, you may still pursue interests that may be connected to your "desired" work - for example web design at home for "fun", practice etc - again the gain is skills.
It's all very well for a millionaire to preach. People can't pay-off their CC debts because they're broke! He lives in another world and this sort of crap is going to be a huge political embarrassment for him.
Mmmn, but the idea is sound. Even if you were to pay an extra $1 a day to your own debts, this would help. What I was trying to suggest is that he seems to recognise the issues are not just that of the banks; we must take responsibility for our own personal debt, which all contributes in billions to the problems today. Besides, all the broke people were still broke when they took the credit card. Did they really need that new 3D TV? Of course there are varying scales of poverty in all countries... so of course not everyone will be able to begin paying off debts.. however not doing so will create more debt and further poverty. Unless you got 0% on your card, those standard "APR" rates will mean you will NEVER get out of debt unless you focus on a plan to pay it off.
Wonderful to see the real America re-emerging amongst all the flabby forelock-tuggers and pop-gun teabags! About the only cheerful news for years.
