Well Justice Thomas seemed to be offended by such a notion. I can understand why. When gays hijacked the legitimate civil rights movement it was an insult to all who fought for equality of blacks.

If gay people were OK with their exact version of marriage being called a civil union we wouldn't be having this discussion now. Nobody would care because it wouldn't be marriage. It would be a legal contract with the state that offers identical benefits. It's when gay people DEMANDED it be called marriage as a way to stick the knife in and twist, is when Christians got their noses out of joint. I honestly believe nobody would have given 2 craps on a cracker if gay people just wanted civil unions. But it's not just about equal rights. It's been about getting people back. It's always been about that. Under the skin was always the goal to teach those religious people a lesson. They want to be "married" not just have the same rights.

Shall I bring up the whole "separate but equal is inherently unequal" bit?

Romans 1:26-28 - 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. 28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.

It's all part of God's plan. Even the folks to be thrown into the lake of fire.

Can you show me which religious belief, with supporting biblical text, providing insurance benefits violates?

Your claim. It isn't a wedding chapel. It's a public venue available for hire.

No. I'm asking why they hire them in the 1st place. Nothing to do with what I believe or what's legal.

Civil rights are about more that ethnic discrimination. That isn't difficult to understand... really.

So they should fire them, lay them off.
And are they somehow a different person or worker after they find out they've been gay their whole life?
Why don't they know those very near and dear religious things before they hire all their wokrers?
Same with workers who are in 2nd or more adulterous marriages.

Or is it still a matter of picking and choosing which sinners to discriminate against?

For small enough businesses, as long as there isn't a community law against it, they can. They can also pass on the black guy, the Jewish one, and the Ukrainian woman.

If those decisions are part of a large organization and the community fears those decisions will create walls within the community, no they don't. You don't get to put a 40,000 foot statue on your front lawn and you don't get to say the only lumber mill in town won't hire blacks. It's part of the trade off of being part of that community.

But you can eat lunch with who you want and you can hire to fix your sink whoever you like.

Youve never refuted any such thing. Claiming something is irrelevant, isnt refuting it.

I never said you did. You were crying because they may be forced to provide them health insurance. If they weren't their employee, they would not have to provide them health insurance. Even though they will provide every other employee health insurance.

I'm trying to help you out with the terrible terrible situation of an employer not having to provide health insurance to a gay person because it might be against their beliefs to do so.
I don't know how it would be terrible, you seem to think it is, so I'm trying see a way out of the situation for some who want to discriminate because it makes them queazy.
