A simple, common sense gun control plan

Is Cocaine and other drugs such as Heroin or Methamphetamines, and many other street drugs legal ?
No !
So why are those illegal drugs available ?
Because Criminals do not obey the Laws !
Guns are often smuggled in to areas with strictest gun control !

Interesting way of looking at things but if someone is a murderer don't they already have a murder weapon? Also, do you have any information as to how many child abusers on the run from the police are actually interested in buying guns?

The term criminal is used to indicate an individual who has committed a crime. As a person in the U.S. is innocent until proven guilty, I would to have to assume then that one who is a criminal has already been convicted. So why is that person on the run from police instead of behind bars?

I guess I don't really care that much about those getting murdered. I fall into the category of those who are highly unlikely to be murdered. So you see it as your Patriotic Duty to help police the nation. If you start with guns and move on to all the other crimes that need policing you will be a busy individual. Again I guess I look at it like passive eugenics. Death is a fact of life. We are descended from criminals. Eve ate things she shouldn't have. Then she not wanting to take the fall alone talked Adam into moving to the dark side. As I understand it they had a couple kids and one murdered the other and then lied about it. I guess it's just my nature; I come from bad stock.

P.S. I consider myself very patriotic. I gave over 30 years to the nation.

 

Those are Prohibited People, and as such, possession of firearms by Prohibited People is a Crime no matter how they obtain the firearm in question, some have commited murder in order to illegally obtain firearms, and if they manufactured those firearms, it is just as illegal, nothing is gained by such people and they can be prosecuted for such crimes.

What does patriotism have to do with it? Why should my best friend require a BCG? He's got a CCW, dozens of guns already, and we've already seen that the government doesn't prosecute those who fail background checks.

 

We have a lot of patriotic Americans where I live and last time I was at the gun show there was a lot of guns changing hands with out anything but money and an hand shake. Funny we also have one of the lowest murder rates in the country where I live.

As a Patriotic American why don't you concentrate your efforts where they would make a greater difference to both you and your fellow Americans? The types of things you are suggesting here will adversely impact millions of law abiding Americans while having such a small impact on crime or the saving of life.

 

it would never pass. theres no 'give and take.' theres just take. if you want to convince americans to adopt further restrictions, you've got to loosen some as well. compromise is integral to politics, and theres no compromise here.
Some examples of things you might consider 'giving up' in exchange for the things you want:
-deregulate silencers
-bypass waiting periods with a CCW
-add an expiration date to the law with renewal dependent on statistical analysis of effective reduction in gun violence
-cover the increased cost of enforcement from the general budget instead of trying to get gun owners/sellers to cover the cost of their own restrictions

without compromise, you're just banging your head against the 'gun rights' wall created by the notion that banners are trying to institute a ban by slowly eroding access to guns with many small 'reasonable' laws over a long period of time (which is precisely what this proposition is doing sans any compromise).
