If true, what does it mean? Is this really bad? Is it more of a killer than our run of the mill influenza strains? I have only had the flu once. In 1973, the London flu. It was the worst illness I have ever experienced. It was really bad, the way it makes one feel. I think it may have killed me, and I have been in hell ever since. Hell is a place where the politicians are French, the police, german and the cooks, English. Ok, a joke, but that London flu was no joke. It would have made death desirable, seriously.

Well. That's not good is it. Sure we shoot the ***** about nuclear war, and hey who doesn't like to watch a little Walking Dead? There's never going to be a nuclear war and sorry WD fans.. No zombies. But..

I have degree in Biology from UT and viruses have always fascinated me. They are quite.. Beautiful. Perfect really when viewed on a microscopic level. They are perfect in the function they perform. I don't know of hardly anything that is perfect

    But anyway um yah so..

A pandemic? One that is airborne transferable? With a death ratio this high? 40%? With no vaccine? Incubation period 5 days?

Maybe to some 40% doesn't sound high but it would result in well hmm yes ah conservatively? end of society as we now know it. Scary stuff but just for imagine H7N9 airborne with it evolving and it is and quite quickly. With an incubation period on average of 5 days?

Toss in 100s if not 1000s of intercontinental flights a day?

A vaccine would take alot of time to develop and disperse so no help there. Years even.

So as hospitals are over run quickly. People stop going to work and school, hoarding, looting, violence on a uncontrollable scale by authorities, paranoia runs amok to be frank.
Everything stops. Infrastructure like electricity, water, trash pick up.. Everything stops.

100s of millions of people die too of course just to the disease but as many will die from starvation as the pandemic I think.

and we worry about Kim and NK. Hah he's stoppable. This thing airborne? Nothing can stop.

Its not a question of if but when. No fear mongering intended.

    Thanks for posting truck

Some people don't like China but in the virology department these guys don't play. They have super brilliant virologists and their government gives them carte blanche in dealing with H7N9.

I would too if I were them. China is slightly densely populated.

Sorry Truck that won't work. You'd ah starve probably in that void terrain. What few stores are there would be empty... Unless you keep a large survival kit in your truck which I doubt you do because of space. But.. you are mobile so that's a plus.

Unless you take off with a load of Walmart food! Geez u might actually survive it haha

So globalism is an Achilles Heel. Obviously. Strict borders and border control was a manifestation of human intelligence. Sometimes we get amnesia and see the older ways as regressive, as past their times, a detriment, when basic things born of human intelligence are never out of date, regardless of what the airheads say. We seldom think much of contagious diseases with significant mortality rates, for we have lived in a world where many of the old killers are no longer that dangerous. But nature seems to like to throw new mutations at you, whether it is something like this or an antibiotic resistant bacteria. And indeed these things are a much greater threat to humanity than nuclear war is. And as someone said here, it really isn't IF, but WHEN. This is what should be keeping people up at night, instead of Pres. Trump. So, the hysterical are hysterical about the wrong things. Hardly serious people in the grand scheme, but live lives of superficiality, wringing their hands over the wrong things. Pardon the digression.

i live in the California desert at times in the past weekeds a lot when i was young you can survive if you have water supply like a creek or well that the ranchers set up windmill and the cattle drink out of rabbits are making a come back i see bird flu doesn't affect them

if you look at it naturally nature is setting us up for a large die off, with mega citys cramming us all together now and open borders between each other, a super bug virus that would spread so fast it would be global within a weeks time

Certainly. It can't be argued. as I earlier just for brevity sake outlined just a tiny portion of the fallout results of a airborne virus with such a death ratio.. The virus itself will be the least of our problems

Itll turn literally Mad Max Beyond Thunder Dome in weeks. No joke

Ask yourself or friends and family how many days of food and more importantly water they have on hand, Bet it's less than a week's worth.

    Mhm

weapons like rifles that can bring down a deer for food or bad looters at a distant say 150 yards+ would be a must i just fitted my rifles with improve optics, red dot scope for short range fighting and 3x 9 scopes for longer takes. forget trying to survive in a large city the looters and roving gangs with assault rifles will look worse then mad max since they only had chains and clubs

, the rural woods would be a best bet

Soooo being the paranoid freak that I am I spent half the morning inventorying and replacing half the ***** in my hold up and mobile survival kits. Hold up is my pantry and mobile is two backpacks

Now I'm watching Stephen Kings " The Stand" again. In a few hours I should be in full blown tweeker mode going to get beer with a gas mask on.

    Thanks ALOT Truck!! :cynic:

i dont think we have much to worry about.

we've gotten pretty good at isolating such epidemics.

Ebola barely made a dent in The West.

    I've heard it before. :ignore:
Yet locally in The O.C. there are people with West Nile Virus antibodies who never knew they were sick. Those antibodies could have only been provoked by an infection, if not a vaccination. And that is not the West Nile Virus infection we are told about, is it.

Some people get very sick and die from the same virus many others may shake off easily.
And its' those "very sick" who represent your statistics. They sought help.
Besides SARS, Swine Flu, and West Nile Virus threats, I survived mumps and chicken pox as a kid.
