So that would include atheists, Muslims and any other religion practiced as well then, after all they also are taxpayers.
So far I have said nothing about denying the freedoms to anyone or anything so your personal jab is moot. Considering that the constitution was founded on Judeo-christian beliefs, it is not a stretch to say that it is a christian nation. However, it is and should be a nation that is tolerant of all religions. I will agree that there is a minority of conservatives have prejudice against other religions, just as a minority of liberals have prejudice against christian and other religious groups. When it comes to the mosque near ground zero, I would not deny their right to have it. However, I do not think it is right in a societal sense as it was Muslim extremists who attacked us on 9/11. There where Muslim Americans killed on 9/11 as well, and they deserve respect just like any other American who perished that day. I have no problem if they used public property as well if they supply the funds for it and its upkeep.
No. these programs enslave people. There are people who need help but better that help comes from a neighbor than a distant, unfeeling bureaucracy. These programs usurps the neighbor's obligation to look after their neighbors in need. These soullessly maintained programs isolate the people in them.
I have no obligation to take care of my neighbors and if I was in need wouldn't ever consider asking for help or expect it from something as unreliable and as unfunded as a "neighbor". I pay taxes so that if I need help , and qualify for it, I will take it from the government....and I don't have to suck up to them just to get a favor...
Nope - parochial thinking belief that one's personal code of conduct and mores should apply to all Narrow mindedness in relation to societal constraints and behaviours Application of personal ethics to broader inappropriate situations All of the above apply to a majority of those who spend their lives in protected institutions like large churches - academia and parts of America
Thanks I did wonder BB. You may have unintentionally left out a few like military service, public service, safety forces, charitable works etc.
"Justice Scalia is a partisan (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)-bag"-- Anonymous 06/18/2012 "This is typical Scalia. He respects precedents when they fit his conservative ideology and disregards them when they dont. He claims that history should guide judges. But nothing about the history of the commerce clause has changed. Whats changed is the political implications of the commerce clause. When its being invoked for law and order conservatives, he favors Wickard. When invoked by liberals to support healthcare reform, he thinks Wickard is bad law. Once again, we see that Scalias originalism is a charade."--Adam Winkler, UCLA legal scholar
TRue, I agree. Social programs such as they exist today do enslave people, shockingly the majority in the last national election thought that was a good thing.
