    POLITICS AND CAREERS

From Truthout here: After Supreme Court Refusal, It’s Up to the People to End Gerrymandering - excerpt:
    TENURE OF OFFICE

There are many reasons why a Supreme Court justice should not spend forever in that position. We vote legislatures every two years and the executive head of government every four years (or eight years). Both for good reason. Whazzat?

Because tenure stagnates - whether on the Supreme Court or CEO of a company. People who preside get too used to a particular point of view and it colours their opinion. Which is only natural for individuals, but very dangerous for Supreme Courts. The human-being does not get any more intelligent with age and wiser only at the most simple levels. The Supreme Court is at the highest level in the land. Decisions made there can easily influence our lives last a long, long time.

At present this above however is the situation as regards political tenure of office in the US in Washington, DC (from here):

So, DC seems a good place for job-tenure. Pass some time there and you will be welcomed with open-arms when returning to your state! And a lifetime job on various corporate BoD's (at a very generous annual salary - see footnote below*!

    GERRYMANDERING & THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE

As we see from the quote above, the judges know very well that gerrymandering is a manipulation of the popular-vote. So is the Electoral-College that - in a presidential election - negates the vote of all the losers! It's as if nobody ever voted for them and entire states voted for the President-elect and NO ONE ELSE!

Right, Left or Center, political or juridical power should never be in the hands of people who sit very long terms occupying the highest and most important governmental tenures in the country - and whether on a local, state or national level.

If that is a Real Democracy, then someone please explain how! Politics should not be a lifetime job ...

YES - being a BoD member is a good business!
