Soviet electronics was. These were huge cabinets with a lot of relays and bundles of circuit boards with chips that were copied from Intel chips. When Gorbachev signed an agreement with the US, still unfinished products, cabinets with such electronics, were thrown directly into the trough where the garbage lay. Two of my comrades worked on the night shift and were able to remove chips from the boards, which were then sold on the black market, where they were bought because of the gold that was in these chips.

With this money from the sale of chips, my friend was able to buy a second-hand PC, and without HDD.

In general, at that time the factory was completely disordered. The management of the plant sold everything that could be sold to the West. The workers stole everything they could.

    The nonsense.
For 320 rubles you could buy 1,5 tonnes of bread, 100 bottles of vodka, fly from Moscow to Siberia 7 times by plane, etc. What nonsense do you write here?

Of course, nobody liked working for $ 60 a month. In 1995, already at another plant, at a joint Russian-American enterprise, the machine operators had earnings of 55-80 dollars a month. This was only when they were not sent on forced leave for 2/3 of the salary.

yeah I was just pulling your leg....I remember a story about how the Americans spend millions on developing a ballpoint pen that could be used in space whilst the Russians just used a pencil...I thought that was brilliant!

That's what I was thinking...the Russians were always good at "making do" (if you know what I mean?)...rather than thowing truckloads of money at things they have to make do with what they had and...well... generally it kindda worked...

Do not confuse the 80s and 90s. In the 80s, it was possible to live on a salary of 320 rubles, and in the 1990s, it was impossible to live on a salary of 350 thousand rubles.

In January 91, when there was a monetary reform of Pavlov, in the factory canteen we were pre-paid to buy a plate of potatoes with meat for 23 rubles. With a salary of 320 rubles a month.

And you never did it :)
Oh Yes, then the Americans were able to kill our economy. We are thankful them for that. But we discuss the time when you got 320 rubles a month, don't we?

It's a good story but it was untrue. You cannot safely use a pencil in space because of the danger of a broken tip floating into the electronics and causing a short.

I confuse nothing. You wrote that 320 rubles in 80s equal 50 bucks. I answered that it was nonsense. If to be honest, your salary seems strange. If you developed missile systems your salary had to be two times more. You are a very strange guy. you write you don't know. Or you get that information from your pastor? :)

If to be exact, we all (Russians and Americans) used pencils at the beginning.

Soviet machines were ****. At the time when I worked, the bulk of the machine park was 50-60s. I worked on new machines that were made in Germany. Such machines in the factory were very rare. The entire technological process in the mechanical shop was at the level of 50-60-ies. Tool production fell apart before my eyes: the tooling made in the tool shop did not fit the given dimensions and simply could not be inserted into the sockets.

In 1997, this collapsed military plant was unable to produce even a union nut for oil pipelines, commissioned by the French concern: the signed contract was failed.

I think that today the situation has changed little: in production - a mess, low salaries, high turnover of staff, there are no qualified specialists.

You write for Americans. OK. You are an American writer.
I wrote that Americans drilled a hole in the Russian spaceship. You wrote that it isn't impossible because your salary was 320 rules in 80s. Let's you visit a doctor.
