After Palestinians reject deal, Israel to send 700,000 vaccines to South Korea

SEOUL/JERUSALEM, July 6 (Reuters) - South Korea said it will receive 700,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech's (PFE.N) coronavirus vaccine from Israel on loan this week, in an attempt to speed up immunisation following a surge in infections around the capital Seoul.

Under the vaccine swap arrangement announced by both governments on Tuesday, South Korea will give Israel back the same number of shots, already on order from Pfizer, in September and October.

Briefing reporters in Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said the vaccines were being loaded aboard a plane within hours of the deal's announcement on Tuesday, and that South Korean officials would verify their viability.

"This is a win-win deal," he said in an earlier statement. "Together we will beat the pandemic."

Ok, no big deal, this is what countries with legitimate governments, carrying for their citizens, do. On the other hand,

The Palestinian Authority has cancelled a deal under which Israel was to give it at least one million Covid vaccines. The authority said the Pfizer jabs were too close to their expiry date.

And, of course, the UN experts still had been critical of Israel's failure to fully extend its vaccination program to Palestinians under its control.

Another one of great examples why Palestinians are successful, and South Korea is not. Or, is it the other way around

That's pretty crazy, but people rarely accuse the Palestinian leadership of making smart moves.

I find it gratifying that UN, which quickly denounced Israel for its shenanigans, trying to take another advantage of Palestinians, is now quiet.

Got to admit that it’s kind of funny. I don’t think there is a way to win in politics. Just have to learn to deal with critics and feel confident in your own decisions. Palestinians refused something (for technical reasons) South Koreans were happy to take. What does it tells you about Palestinians?

I thought the first sentence was silly. Because, lets be honest, if this were Pres Biden's deal he'd have just given the doses to 'Palestine', included $500 billion of our tax dollars along with it, went over there himself to hand them the check, bowed in the process, and found some way to blame COVID on racism. The second sentence, however, I had a good long chuckle at because its just so damn true. So how do I give 1/2 a like, lol?

I'm confused by your response as this really has nothing to do with US politics and everything to do with Israel offering doses to the Palestinian authority and they refusing due to expiration and SK saying "We'll take em".

Again, what does this have to do with either Republicans or Biden?

 

Palestinian people snubbed Israel's offer. South Korea said thank you, and took it.

 

The message "Republicans are bad, Biden is good" is all-important sand so it can be inserted into any news of the day.
