Pro-choicers will often mention Todd Akin's statements in an attempt to gain sympathy for all women that have abortions, while only a very small percentage of women have abortions because of rape.

While it is true that the percentage of abortion due to rape is low, the issue is with the percentage of support the idiot got, which is a very clear indication where republicans stand with respect to women.

Cady, I haven't spoken with any of these ladies. They have endured a criminal sentence of ten years for acts they did not commit. They've asked that their privacy be recognized and kept inviolate.

Of course I wouldn't expect the pro-abortion crowd to recognize the life of others (outside of child-bearing age) who were subjected to the criminal sentence of death without benefit of charges let alone a trial. You are consistent in denying the status, the State via the prosecutor's charges conveyed, that a human baby (within his or her mother's womb) was murdered, as you've ever been. Nonetheless that baby was legally dignified with the recognition/status of a human baby...something that those who wish to continue to kill the unborn with impunity would vehemently deny.

The State recognizes that a human life was taken. That murdered unborn baby is a human being. Frightening as it may be for you, that is the truth. If he or she had been allowed to live the child could have told you so.

Best to take that up with the prosecutor who brought these charges. He belongs to a political party that believes abortion is sacred.

And yet he pleaded guilty to the murder of the unborn baby?

Where was his representation! Where was the pro-abortion crowd when he needed them?

We had a conversation awhile back regarding potential charges in this nightmare. I am astounded that a demoncrat, member of the Demoncrat party, could recognize the status of the unborn baby as a human being...

How would one force a birth? Is it not, with rare exception, the natural conclusion to a pregnancy?

According to our super hypocritical laws, it's a person if the woman wants it.

It doesn't matter how many times you call it a baby, it isn't one. Baby is the stage of development between birth and one year. Therefore, Castro is not a "baby-killer." But he certainly is a kidnapper, rapist, abuser, and a forced birther.

Can we please just stop arguing about semantics? It totally derails these discussions.

These discussions are meaningless without accurate terminology. Unless you are a mod, please refrain from telling me how to post. Thanks.

I know from experience that debating terminology derails the main discussion, and it sometimes causes these discussions to go around in circles.

Humans are now an "it"? Kinda like property? Really Cady you are being quite cold about at least one murder victim, why?

Don't forget that he is a monster, a murderer of a fellow human being, of at least one unborn baby in the womb, if not more. Don't forget that. Don't let your ill feelings for "it" (babies in their mother's womb) to validate him getting off for any of his horrific crimes, even the ones you would rather have flushed down the toilet.

I know from experience (far more than you) that accurate terminology is imperative. The main discussion is meaningless when ambiguous, inaccurate terminology is used. You could stop derailing the discussion by making posts like this, however.

That is a conflict...perhaps not unlike, in perception of morality/legality/right vs. wrong, the pre-civil war free and slave states.

Of all the charges he can legitimately be charged with...

Murder is the most serious of them all.

    True or false?

Yes, a fetus of unknown gender is an "it." It is not cold or unfeeling to refer to it as "it." What if an expectant mother suddenly exclaimed, "Oh, I can feel it kicking!" Perfectly normal and natural, not "cold" in any way.

Yes, don't forget he is also a forced birther. Not a baby killer.

I have no feelings for "it," one way or another, and neither do you except that it allows you to push your political agenda.

There would be no murder charges if that young woman hadn't been beaten and starved to force a miscarriage. I don't believe the miscarriage was the worst thing that happened in this 10 year crime spree.

    The child was killed intentionally.

How is it - that is only a miscarriage to you?

Do you know that the woman wanted the pregnancy? She probably didn't want to be beaten and starved, but I'm guessing she didn't want to be pregnant by a monster, and have a lifelong reminder of him, either. She certainly didn't seem to object to the plea bargain.

This should make you nervous.... because the State essentially is saying that it doesn't matter whether or not she wanted the child.

He killed it in a criminal act... and that makes it a murder - whether she would have wanted to have the child or not.

    But there are exceptions, including...

How do you know she didn't consider it an abortion? Otherwise, she would have been FORCED to give birth, with the increased chance of maternal death.

Ummmm... he also forced the pregnancy on her in an act of rape.

He plead guilty to the charge of murder.

Do you think she should have tried to absolve him of that charge?

In a plea bargain deal to avoid a possible death penalty.

The effect was likely the same. Why should she care if he was wrongly charged?
