The discussion was NOT about whether abstinence NOTE SPELLING!) was being preached or not.

There is NO "teen pregnancy epidemic"....teen pregnancy has gotten lower in the last several years..

With the notable exception that an abortion cannot be prohibited if there is any threat to the life and/or health of the pregnant women post viability.

Worth noting that giving birth is ALWAYS a risk to the health and/or life of the woman concerned. If the fetus has a congenital defect and is unlikely to be able to live a normal healthy life the risk to her life and/or health outweighs that of the suboptimal fetus's "viability".

This is usually a medical decision that is made with the advice of close family and friends. There are some instances where the woman opts to take those risks with the understanding that there will only be palliative care for the infant with a DNR in place.

 

Playing the race card is always pointless and only goes to expose the motivation behind it.

Red states where ABSTINENCE ONLY education replaced sex ed resulted in INCREASED numbers of unwanted pregnancies and abortions so it DEFINITELY does NOT work if the goal is to lower abortion rates because it does the exact opposite.

The zygote never becomes a human. It splits into two totipotent clones of itself. These clones then go on to create the blastocyst - a hollow sac of cells in which the embryoblast will form. These totipotent cells then start spitting out differentiated and specialized cells which will form the structure of the human being created. These cells will never be part of that structure - any one of which by the way has the capability to create a human.

There are many things that can happen along the way that will end up with a human not being created. The chances that the creation of a zygote leads to the creation of a human are actually quite low. Less than 50% if memory serves.

You are equating the builder of a human with a human. This is like equating the builder of a brick building with a brick building. The builder/creator of that building never becomes the building. Your analogy would hold once for the embryoblast but not the cells that come before. Prior to the creation of the embryoblast - not a single cell in the structure of a human exists.

 

Lack of cash and education with respect to contraception.

 

So, if you want to have a war, you should pay for the military? If you become impotent because your prostate gives you problems, you shouldn't ask women to pay for fixing your problem? If you want a road to your church, should you have to pay for it?
