This is great news, I think we should allow the policies the continue for a bit and really dive into the numbers and see the benefits vs the costs.

If it is really still working then it should be enacted across the country.

Oh how I wish Obama would allow the states to pull out all the stops on fighting illegals...

    Really?

    4. The agriculture sector is already experiencing major losses.

Commissioner McMillan stated, “The economic hardship to farmers and agribusiness will reverberate throughout Alabama’s economy, as one-fifth of all jobs in our state come from farming.”

The Alabama Farmers Federation estimated the sector would suffer $63 million in losses as the result of the new law going into effect.

the unemployment numbers speak for themself

How can one even make a claim to losses if they don't have the sale price of their products? Do you support illegals being here or do you support American citizens?

    Did you read the link?

In Albertson, Alabama a whole block of Hispanic businesses now stand empty.. and tourism is losing money.

    5. The state tourism industry is threatened. The new law took effect near the end of this year’s tourism season. But the impact is already being felt as tourism-related businesses lose workers and as people cancel plans to vacation in Alabama. Charles Manswer, an information technology businessman, cancelled a 10-day golf vacation to Alabama with 11 associates. One of his associates was born in Puerto Rico and another is a British citizen, and they were concerned about being hassled about their legal status. “Whether it’s legitimate or not, that’s the message seen by people who might come to Alabama,” Manswer said.

Ask the people of Alabama what the impact is on them.

While the farm losses suck, look at the bigger picture. Overall unemployment rates have fallen, underemployment has fallen.

These farms are in the red because they depended on an illegal source of costs savings by paying unfair wages. Or are you ok with the illegal immigrants being taken advantage of... You cant have it both ways.

Most of the people from Alabama that are not family members of illegals support this plan.
While I do not agree with the profiling issue (I think it should be replaced with a mandatory e-verify system) you have to admit that overall the program is working. There are gonna be losses anytime you remove consumers but illegals have proven to cause more damage than good.

BTW the website you listed is hugely biased. Have you read it?

They list all the negatives and none of the positives. From the website:

Point 9 leads me to another question, Why are those in the left fine with the administration going after cities that are attempting to enforce illegal immigration policy but are fine with them ignoring states that flat out state they are not going to enforce current laws? Someone please enlighten me. Thx!

    illegal is illegal

selling drugs is illegal and if it ceased right now, the economy would also suffer

I understand the desire to get Democrat votes but illegal is illegal

I know you can't have it both ways.. If the farming sector accounts for 1/5 of all jobs why do you suppose the farmers took such losses and plowed under crops at harvest time?

The farm numbers in Georgia WORSE.

Immigration Reform would make provisions for TEMPORARY visas..

But you also have to consider the small Hispanic businesses.. If stores were leased by Hispanics in say Gadsen or Cullman or Anniston, Alabama..now those mom and pop businesses sit empty.

    Farm production isn't drugs....

I understand your view.. but will the farmers when they can't buy a new tractor or pay their mortgages?

PS.. Republicans haven't done anything about illegals either in the past 40 years.

it's time and I don't care who is in office. When AZ decided to do something we saw this administration go after AZ instead of upholding federal law.

Piecemeal immigration laws hurt particular groups of American people..
Why not demand comprehensive Reform instead?

Would yo get behind that regardless of partisanship?

I would but this will not happen so long as this Administration picks which states can enforce their own laws. Red states have to let the federal government do everything because they are stupid while blue states are free to do as they please.

    Talk about partisanship...

Congress just isn't up to the task..... as they are concerning so many other problems that require practical attention.

    Like their reelection.
    Fire em all
Take their benefits once they are fired
Remove their ability to lobby after taking their benefits.
