From what I gather, it was 2700 tons of some type of nitrate.

It had been there for years.

It was stored in an unsecured, non temperature controlled warehouse, like the dumbasses they are.

Then, to top it all off, they placed it next to a firework storage facility, which then caught fire.

Just like corn or grain, the air after that long has become a powder keg and a little fire sends the entire thing sky high.

Perhaps someone set it intentionally, given that country (and that area) is in a perpetual state of war for all eternity.

The REAL Trump comes out when he goes 'off script'. His sentences are incoherent and he simply spews what is in his mind. Of course, supporters think that's great - finally they have a leader who is not 'polished' or worried about saying the PC thing all the time. What they don't realize is that what is in his mind is not always appropriate for POTUS.

Like claiming conservatives cling to bibles and guns and blame minorities for their problems?...

    Like that kind of statement?

I agree 100% he was premature in implying that it was an attack without knowing for sure. However, it was apparently what some Generals briefed him on and they felt it could have been an attack. Trump even said in the interview that he really did not know for sure but the Generals probably know more than he does in this field.

In any case, who in their right mind would store that much explosive that close within a city????

I've been pondering this since the news broke. It makes absolutely no sense.

At this point in time does anybody know exactly what caused this terrible explosion. Until we do, everybody's speculation is just that.

    1. We know it was caused by ammonium nitrate improperly stored in the warehouse since 2014.
    2. We know there was a fire before the explosion, possibly started by a welder's torch by accident.
Those two things alone give strong credence to this being an accident, a negligent accident, but not an attack.

In other words, we do not yet have any facts other than the material stored and there was a fire.

Those are indeed the two facts we know of until and IF there is other information. It would certainly be premature to label this an attack with those two known facts. It certainly does not rule out the possibility of an attack or other foul play, but that is at the moment the least likely scenario.

I know, kind of a bummer to try and prop up Trump's loose lips.

Clearly an accident? Clearly? And you're criticizing Trump for drawing a conclusion while you become an apologist for the people who just love to blow things up?

So who had the motive and means to carry this out?

By this time, we would have had some group claiming responsibility. This video has been circulated around the globe multiple times, so if someone did this as an act of terrorism, they certainly got the exposure they wanted. We would know it by now, but even the experts who know everything about bombs have said that this looks like an accident caused by the fire igniting the AN. It only takes 400 degree fire to begin the chemical breakdown of AN into nitrogen and oxygen which expands exponentially.

You realize just saying something does not make it factual? That's just magical thinking.

You do know that Ammonia Nitrate is not combustible on its own, right? There has to be an accelerant. Timothy McVeigh used diesel fuel. When you say that the warehouse was full of ammonia nitrate, and there was a wielder's spark, you leaving a huge gap in the explanation. What accelerant was used? How did the accelerant get applied to the nitrate? Who sent the wielder in? Only the complete clueless would think that these two known facts disproves anything.

I'm not trying to disprove anything. I'm going with the facts we know now and applying Occam's Razor to the situation.

There were other materials in that warehouse. That is what caught fire and when the heat in the warehouse exceded 400 degrees, then the reaction began.

I'm not a chemist, I'm only going off of what I have read, and I have read too many articles on this to be able to provide you that specific link.

I have already stated that if other information is revealed, great, but this whole thing of putting the cart before the horse makes no freaking sense except in the mind of cultists trying to defend Trump's stupidity.

the video has him call it an attack and then clear up that it looked like one and he spoke with military officials that suggest it looked like one as well.

and what do you know it was caused by bomb material

Hardly chaos, seems clear to me
