Northern or rural Qld? Or Rural Victoria? Because I'd agree that rural Victoria can be quite racist.

"My crowd" isn't exempt from racism. Some of them are insanely racist, and regard white folk as rubbish. If you thought I was suggesting that brown people aren't racist, you're entirely wrong.

    On another subject completely...
Does anyone have any views on why female television presents these days are so dog ugly, and the men all have 5 day growth on their faces...it seems that you dont have to be attractive any more to be on tv...
Unless of course you are an empowered woman, and you play the lead role in a programme where
men are treated like sub humans by their superior female supervisor...oh dear Im becoming sexist...
Mariska Hargitay comes to mind where the subliminal message is that any woman, even a detective
in charge can juggle being a mother with work, and be a boss as well...personally Im getting a bit sick of these undertones in various programmes...and you are blind if you dont notice them...
There....Ive had my whinge for the day...Ill go back to mowing the lawn....

The pressure women put on other women to 'have it all' (which is of course, not having much of anything), is immense. It's funny to see though, in 2019. Well, it would be funnier if children didn't always end up paying the price for it.

I much prefer to 'put pressure' on women to be better mothers. Once children are involved, it's no longer about you.

Bri from Bachelor ABC says her accent is Australian. Only one thing: she's not Australian but a California girl. I could never figure out this accent after studying in Australia for a year. Bri probably acquired it from an Aussie soap drama.

    So,
    Australia is getting too hot?
    Hotter than . . .

    Proposal.

With ample Wind and Solar and Musk Energy
Australia desalinate so much ocean water as to create
vast interior lakes. GREAT, interior lakes.
They will probably become salty via the land.
Please store that salt from water desalination somewhere like Nuc waste.

Consider the oppsy of creating the Salton Sea, California
and it continues to exist. Fresh water to Salton.

Consider the cooling effect on the Aussie Island Continent.
    And rainfall too, maybe.
Would these lakes make northern areas prone to monsoon storms
and humid heat more so, or cool them down or nada.
But, lets face it, the important people are in the southern area and
such lakes would be their air conditioning against such heat occurrences.
The lakes would also create areas of biodiversity.

Australia, Wind, Solar, Musk, Great interior Lakes.
    Make Australia Great(er)

    Wind.

    Solar.

    Musk.

How much could it be, "very expensive"?

Let's not forget the above 3 have been major players in Australia.

Ive no idea, but you're dealing with vast land areas with no habitation except crows, no infrastructure.

there have been suggestions of reclaiming inland Australia with schemes such as this. Piping water from the north is one such idea.

The effect on the monsoon pattern is an interesting thought.
The last heat wave travelled diagonally from the northwest to the southeast.
Would a large moist air mass in the centre drag monsoon rain down from the northwest? I don't understand weather enough to be able to speculate.
I wonder if tinkering with the weather on this scale would turn out like other "fooling with Mother Nature" schemes? Eg cane toads, rabbits, foxes, blackberries, Indian Mynahs.

YES. Australia is the best place to tinker with the weather.
Most positive effect without sacrificing neighbors, such as harvesting their rain.
    GREAT AUSTRALIAN LAKES.
They just may sustain themselves as the Salton Sea has.
    FILL AND FORGET.
But, start with clean, water. Similar to California's Salton Sea,
it may become salty via the land it drains.

    Wind for pumping water.
Wind, Solar, Musk for creating Fresh Water, storing the salt, creating the
    GREAT Australian Lakes.
Consider the economic boon to agriculture near the lakes.
Musk has worked Australia and just created his test tube under L.A.
If you want, Revolutionary, consider Wind, Solar & Musk.

    Or bake! :nana:

I mean what could go wrong after so much experience like introducing
rabbits to Australia. Or "the common house fly".

    Huh. Sahara.

If it really screws with global climate,
it will be the island/continent that feels it.
Not some next door neighbor like
:flagcanada: metallic contrails and HAARP denying rain to Southern California.

(HAARP aimed at metallic contrails, warms the air enough to make rain less likely)

Don't know if you've heard of this?
The Ord River is a 320-kilometre (200 mi) long river in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. The river's catchment covers 46,100 square kilometres (17,799 sq mi).
The Ord River Irrigation Scheme was built in stages during the 20th century. Australia's largest artificial lake by volume, Lake Argyle was completed in 1972. It has not been economically successful; $1.45 billion has been spent on the Ord Irrigation Scheme for a return of 17 cents on the dollar, and only 260 jobs created.

There is no way in the wide wide world that anyone with an ounce of brains would a) want to live in central Australia and b) even consider attempting to get water to central Australia...
There nothing there...its as hot as hell...nothing will grow...
Its like Death Valley....waste of time even talking about it....

Are you familiar with The Salton Sea, California. It is near, Death Valley.
A product of an oopsy and self sustaining since.
That desert low area was just filled with fresh water and . . .
    Lots of biodiversity too.

You Aussies have lots of wind, ;)

    use it to pump water!

Remember the Great California Aqueduct System.
Just help it flow where you want it to be.
Made California a Bread Basket State.
