"Rep. Dale Kildee, a Democrat who has represented his hometown of Flint and the surrounding area for 34 years, issued a statement calling the 50-year-old allegations "completely false and shameful." The Washington Times first reported the allegations and posted on its website video interviews with the alleged victim's mother, stepfather and sister."

Assume for a moment that you're out of junior high. How would you defend yourself against accusations of sexual misconduct lodged by someone you knew ten years before? Assume your wife says, "I got a call today from Sally Witherspoon?" After a moments thought you say, "The girl in my high school class?" "Aha! You knew her." "Well, we were in the same class."

"She called and said you sexually assaulted her. Held her down on a desk, fondled her, had your way with her."

    "I never did."

How would you prove your innocence? You have to, you know?

There have been cases where the accussers have gotten too specific, with dates or places, and the victims could prove they were out-of-town that day or had never been to that place but even that doesn't get them clear. I was actually accused once but I fortunately had a work diary where I had evidence of being in another city with other people on some of the dates and times. Without that, I would have been toast.

I had an allegation lodged against me by an underage girl. Fortunately, she had listed dates, times, and places and I had work records showing I was in other places at those dates and had witness to that effect. Otherwise, I'd have been toast.

I have a real problem with this and the quick rush to condemn that some people have. I don't necessarily believe I have to consider people innocent until proven guilty but a simple allegation does not equate proof, except sometimes in a court of law and often with the general public.

C'mon Patrick, ya beat me to it! LOLOL! Great find.

Let's see if Think Progress says the same about Rep. Dale Kildee, D-Mich. They can just substitute in the Cain story. Why would his own family lie and smear him like that if it weren't true? Especially after all these years. Will think progress step up and do the same to Kildee or be partisan hacks and ignore the story? I don't know, but only time will tell.
