So, since the tax code had been forced on us from the Obama administration, and Amazon and Google execs spent more time at the whiltehouse durning the Obama years, how do you reconcile your comment with the reality that is? Trump keeps complaining about this but has done nothing to eliminate the copious amount of tax deductions that have corrupted our tax code except for state income tax deductions.

They also need to remove parcel service from the usps post office and to start taxing shipping. The USPS should only be delivering paper mail.

None (NONE) of the major corporations ever paid the top corporate rate. Lot of companies reduced their effective rate near zero even before the tar reform.

 

The constitution doesn't give congress the authority to write laws. It gives them the authority to pass laws. Anyone can write a law. The president also has a lot of influence in what is put in a bill because he can threaten to veto anything that does not have what he is requesting be put in the bill.

This is one aspect of business that most Americans are very ignorant about. Even if Amazon was ordered to pay tax on profit it would not be paid by Amazon, instead it will be paid by the consumer. All Amazon will do is raise their prices 3% across the board. All costs of business operations, including taxes will always be paid by the customer.

What does Exxon/Mobile do when oil prices rise? What does Wilshire Casualty do after paying claims from a major hurricane? What does Home Depot do when lumber commodities spike in the Market? What does Zales do when gold prices hike and what does Farmers Insurance Co do when you have too many claims. Oh, I know what they do. They all raise their prices of goods and services to cover those expenses.

 

This is why I have said in the past that we shouldn't tax them at all. They will never pay. The problem is, how do we raise our wages/salaries in order to make up what they don't contribute? Their prices will not go down.
It's also why 'making' them pay for our health insurance and college tuition, etc., will never work. The problem is, we always pay our own. So, competition is the way to drive down prices.
How to raise wages/salaries? Wages can be raised by the same method. As long as we have an influx of immigrants willing to do the work that pays wages for less than normal, we are in trouble. We will find more U.S. citizens on the government teet.
