Have we finally reached the Apex of American life whereas we have conditioned ourselves into this dream state of Bliss and Utopia via TV, Internet and magazines?

I think people are simply idiots to begin with, because life is more enjoyable that way. Ignorance is indeed bliss.

Truth has little to offer to the chemically stimulated needs of a human.

HOw and when do you think this mental usurpation happend?

I would say it began with the fake NASA program to bilk millions of tax dollars and create a space facade and an endless stream of income of the elite.

This election will tell us just how many people want to remain on their unproductive/useless, economy wrecking big government gravy train where nearly half of our population are so lazy that they feel the rest of the tax paying people should work to make their lives comfortable. We are indeed at the tipping point in America. Either you want successful Conservative Capitalism to grow America or you want a steady stream of socialism to take your freedoms away and put this nation in perpetual bankruptcy. Well duh....make my day!

When fire was discovered, and man gained the ability to harness it, bringing groups together to be warm, cook food, hunt together, etc...the dawn of social dynamics is when the real detachment from reality took place.

All you have to do is read this forum on a daily basis to see just how truly stupid Americans are.

It's a sad fact that America no longer seek knowledge. In this day and age ignorance is glorified and knowledge makes the majority feel inferior rather than the drive to improve.

Not only dumbed down (via commercials and dumb/artificial tv programming), but also mind controlled (ideologically minds turned in one direction and are politically labeled) and put in state of fear (via terror and fear mongering), completely cornered, ready to vote (give up their power and thus freedom) Internet is not enough to wake up people. Youtube, Google, Twitter the system's news media, and Facebook are the big system's online media, system has taken over the net for a large part, the masses use the system's internet sites instead of use internet as educational system. As long as people have all their modern things like a house, food, tv, a car, a computer they do not change and the system has the chance to push forward their imperialistic program. 6-11 will be the point of no return if a large majority is going to give away their power. It will happen, it happened over the last few years to European countries too (history repeating, means empire, rule and eventually war)

It's really sad to say but YES, America is officially "dumbed down". How else could a person like Barack Hussein Obama be elected President of the United States? Here's a person who's never been in charge of anything in his life. Never ran a business or even worked in one where he was a supervisor! Yet he's become the "CEO" of the most powerful nation on earth and he himself became the most powerful person on earth! How can this be? The dumbing down factor rears its head! No thinking person, who loves his or her country, could possibly have voted for this man. He had no credentials to offer to the voting public, just a bunch of promises which he hasn't kept and never will keep. He's made us the laughing stock of the world and in a short time we're going to be the economic equivilant (sp) of Spain and the European continent...... JH in Va.

America is officially dumbed down via our lame libstream media. Don't fret for I do have a solution to getting America back on the 'RIGHT' track.

If we still insist on having our government run schools feed these young skulls full of mush a steady stream of propaganda and un/anti American history and values, then the least we could do without even introducing vouchers or the incentive to privatize our schools--a serious alternative. Since these public schools no longer teach American history, or they revise and or belittle/degrade it to fit in with the liberal teacher's socialistic utopia, I propose we set aside 3 hours a day to have Rush Limbaugh's radio program heard in every public middle and high school in America. Actually, other then giving the kids a daily one hour course in English and one hour in literature--those 3 fact-filled hours of Rush's non propaganda and pro American lessons would be more than enough to shape each and every kid's mind with all the tools needed for them to become pro American productive adults going forward.

It is a compound problem that is not that difficult to correct, but difficult for people to accept that things have to be changed in order to correct it, and one person is going to be credited for having developed the solution; and he is going to be designated a tyrant and " a Hitler," because of the jealousies of people.

It all has to do with the social contract theory, and our ability to describe the "perfect" social contract into a tangible instrument to guide society. The broadest, most encompassing social contract is the knowledge classification standard. For the most part of history this was managed by legends of real leaders and allegorical stories of fanciful ideas that helped the student grasp a hold of the ideas necessary for guiding their lives during "simpler" times. In contemporary society we are relying on a chaotic system of science and politics - the problem being that the classification standard(s) for the social sciences are not scientific, and the political system was built and thrives on its entertainment value, rather than its technical qualification review.

The political charter system is not derived of "scientific" formatting, but rather, the most enduring constitution was derived with antiquated technology, and forever being forgiven for its inadequacies and perpetuation of corruption.

You need a new constitution, and library classification system - genius!

The political leaders know he was affirmatively promoted. They all see how inadequate black people tend to be - before all they heard was that we were prejudiced and holding them back.

Nelson Mandela died knowing that educated black people would rather cry of oppression in America than help him organize a country for black people. The whole world is beginning to recognize this, and black people will probably be the last to recognize it, because of their vicarious and zealous identification with a black man being president of the historically "prejudiced," and corrupt, United States government. It is a good guess that Mandela refused to see President Obama, because of this dilemma.

For non-whites, it is not about eliminating the corruption by correcting the problems (changing Washington), but rather, it is about vicariously wielding the unjust political powers to oppress whites to the advantage of the elites of their demographic - poor blacks are not going to gain anything for their efforts of support for President Obama, just like poor whites do not gain anything when whites wield corrupt political power. In fact, wealthy blacks will probably not benefit either - the corrupt white bankers seem to still be winning.

Officially dumbed down, yes, as in our "official" (government, mass media, etc.) information sources are very much dumbed down.

Unofficially, people may be suffering a broad lack of education in history, economics, and especially critical thinking, but I also see a level of awareness growing among social media. I suspect that knowledge and awareness are growing by these means, helping to make up for bad schooling and a propaganda-filled political and media machine, and possibly leading us to a future in which informed people will finally stand up together and break from the old mold to throw down the corrupt system as it stands.

Ideological dogma aside, the pragmatic approach is to adopt the methods that succeed - those of the best-educated states that achieve greater prosperity and a higher quality of life, and the most advanced nations on earth, all of which are democracies that practice regulated capitalism with a strong social welfare component.

Why resort to fantasy when reality affords proven paradigms?

Definitely dumbed down, but isn't that what the government wants anyway? Keep us distracted and fooled so they can pass laws right under our noses that they couldn't get through any other way?

America has always been a fantasy, with a small core of realists, and when those realists dominate the political discourse the country advances, but that happens rarely and only when events conspire that expose the greedy well funded propaganda as hokum, the most recent being the brief 6 month opening of 2009, when universal health care was added to American Experience. Even now as the Noise Machine goes into frantic convulsions trying to reverse progress with a set of lies that only the most gullible believe, (then again, the most gullible do make up a majority at times), the idea of universal health coverage is a part of the law, and the removal of it from the law is as difficult as the process of getting it into the law, which required a supermajority, and we are a long ways off from a right wing supermajority.

A recent report indicated that 80% of NYC public school grads can't read. Dumbed down ois inevitable.

Glad I'm a boomer and can read.
