We are not making comparisons we are saying the rate that is on the books before deductions is now the highest in the world since Japan lowered theirs. That is truth

This is the truth. The numbers do not lie. Reiver needs to start another thread about scholarly research on effective tax rates, like Obama's 20%, as you have mentioned.

The only truth here is that international comparisons can only be made with effective rates. This is information readily available, as shown in this thread. Businesses oif course understand these rates. We're left therefore with something rather unappealing: deliberate misrepresentation of relative tax rates due to political emotionalis. An awfully ugly phenomenon as it represents a concerted effort to ignore economic reality

Corporate tax rates are non-partisan. Not accepting that the U.S. has the highest corporate tax rate, is just plain ignoring reality.

You can repeat untruths until you're blue in the face but it won't change the facts: effective rates are required for international comparisons and the US doesn't have the highest rates. You want to play party politics? Fair enough. Just put some effort in the blag!

This does not compute. Why would conditions in this country be ripe for foreign takeovers if we have the highest corporate tax rates in the world? Personally, I'd rather take over corporations in countries where taxes are low as, of course, I'd get to pocket those tax dollars. More scare tactics?

We still have one of the highest effective tax rates. This article is a little old, as it does not acknowledge that the U.S. has the top spot concerning corporate tax rates. Reiver, quit fooling yourself. You look ridiculous.

Nice to see you admit that your opening post is cobblers. Took your time about it though

I never admitted such a thing. You still have to admit that you are not on the same page as the OP.

Golly, even though your opening post is drivel and every piece of evidence presented has illustrated it? Surely you can be budged by that?

Disputing misrepresentation is a merit good. If anything its underprovided. Given the US doesn't have the highest tax, are you regretting the inappropriate title?

Why should I? The published tax rate IS indeed the highest. Move along. There's another scholarly paper to read somewhere.

Given we shouldn't blame you (you've just been manipulated by a nonsensical comparison), it would be rude and unhelpful not to consistently repeat good sense: effective rates, the only way we can make international comparison, destroys the 'highest tax' comment as utter drivel

Yet you would call the unemployment U3 instead of the real unemployment of U6. You can't spin and expect people to believe you. You must have went to the same fuzzy math school Obama went to

Not drivel, but a fact. The U.S. still has one of the highest effective rates. Your argument does not hold water.

The US neither has the highest rate or is somehow part of some 'highest tax' club. There has been only one attack on business here and that's from you as you assume that the businessman is naïve and prone to stupidity

Clearly its highly unlikely that you'll admit that you're a victim of misrepresentation. That reality cannot be ignored. However, I will continue to inform you of the good sense as learning this stuff (as its so obvious) isn't difficult
