Two simple examples off the top of my head: the sold guns to and built warships for the Confederates.

Canadians & Americans actually aren't that much alike. We are definitely more liberal and less religious.
It is a different world up here. Our police aren't militarized and we aren't walking around with guns in holsters as concealed carry is mostly illegal unless you are granted special permission.

Well the only reason we burned down the White House was because the Americans raped our women and pillaged and set fire to York which was the Canadian capital at the time (which is now Toronto).

The amazing thing about the war was the British left Canada alone to fight off the Yanks for quite some time because they were too busy with France. So you have Canadian citizens and soldiers fighting alongside the Indians defending their land. And it worked. We held our own until reinforcements came. Americans see this war as some big victory but in reality both sides could say they won I guess.

British stopped torturing the Americans and Canada became a country during this war. Lots of pride.
However it is still a large embarrassment for the Yanks.

It's par for the course. You know how they talk about the French and without the French they wouldn't be a country right now either. They underestimate the help that the French gave them.
They would have lost both wars without Frances help.

That was actually one of my favorite episodes. Luwaxana really had Picard quaking in his boots when she went after him. That was actually a brilliant idea by Picard to use Data like that.

US - Celebrates Independence Day, the UK doesn't give a (*)(*)(*)(*).
UK - Celebrates the burning of the white house, the US is like "OH MY (*)(*)(*)(*)ING GOD!!!11111 JESUS (*)(*)(*)(*)ING CHRIST UP ON A CROSS!?!!?!?! WHAT THE (*)(*)(*)(*) IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?!1111!!!!1"

Sometimes life is not easy if you unclick your heels and lower your right arm.

The episode is Star Trek TNG "Manhunt." The 19th episode of the 2nd season...yes Luwaxana was a Betazoid woman in "The phase," and on the prowl for a man.

Completely off-topic but a Star Trek reference must be acknowledged.

I do not think anyone but the news folks care about this at all. Just something to sell advertising nothing to see here.

Maybe that is what Canada is celebrating on their Thanksgiving Day?

Anyway- lots of faux outrage all around.

War of 1812 happened. U.S. mostly got its butt kicked- winning our only substantial victory after the war was actually over.

And for most of the last 100 years the United States and England have been allies.

While it might have been a tad insensitive to celebrate the burning down of your allies capital, hey we celebrate taking America away from England every year- and somehow we all live.

Regarding the casualty numbers of red shirted personnel on the original Star Trek series with Capt. Kirk:

Yellow-shirt crewperson deaths: 6 (10%)
Blue-Shirt crewperson deaths: 5 (9 %)
Engineering smock crewperson deaths: 4 (8%)
Red-Shirt crewperson deaths: 43 (73%)

Odds are if you beamed to a planet, wearing red, as part of an away team with Kirk and Spock...you were gonna die.

Onboard ship, the chances of a red-shirt buying the farm were a little better...about a 47% casualty rate compared to other uniform colors

Ok, with that out of the way. I want to point out that the color red used in the British uniforms of that time period...Lobsterbacks as they were called; did indeed serve a purpose. black-powder weapons create a lot of smoke when they are fired. Imagine a battlefield with hundreds of these weapons being discharged. . This made it incredibly important to be able to easily distinguish friend from foe in the white smoke. Red certainly stands out.

ah, hell to the no! Andy Jackson didn't even let the war being over stop him from kicking English ass.

him not knowing the war was over is irrelevant, neither side did.

Not my point. I was countering the bull(*)(*)(*)(*) claim that after the War of 1812, the British stopped interfering with us.

They had already stopped those things prior to the War of 1812 starting. Those incidents were used as an excuse to try and land-grab Canada.

Canadians didn't go to war with the natives we just took their kids and put them in assimilation residential schools.

Baby seals are illegal to kill and are hardly targeted anyway because they aren't worth that much on the market. Don't believe every anti sealing ad you see. We have a cull because like many other culls we can't deal with an overpopulation which is what would happen if we didn't kill them. Also the Inuits eat the meat and sell the pelts for money. It is their culture and their life. They need money too.

Also have you ever seen chickens or cows or pigs slaughtered? That is way more horrific than clubbing a seal on the head.

People only pity seals because they look cute. I have seen seals, wild seals and they smell and are not cute.

These enviro groups are using misinformation and human stupidity to justify their salaries getting paid. There is absolutely nothing wrong about culling seals.
