Every rule in this country is changed based on partisan political views because the country is run by politicians not angels. And please Schumer in exactly the same position would have done exactly the same thing as McConnell. Politics is and always has been a full contact sport. And Justice Barrett will be more of a benefit to the American people as a whole than her predecessor ever was.

That's true. You believe a left leaning justice should have been rammed through.

Garland is not a conservative but he is a proper candidate for the supreme court. All you need is a vacancy and a friendly Senate.

Wouldn't it be smart to change that? Why is a contact sport appropriate in government? The voters get what they request.

Sadly because the only other choice is a totalitarian dictatorship of one sort of another. As Churchill once put it and I paraphrase greatly Republican Democracy sucks but it beats the hell out of every other system that's ever been tried. The best you can do is try to limit the amount of time people can hang onto the levers if power but those worship the god power will fight that strenuously.

It is possible to run a republic without the behavior we see in government today. All we have to do is calmly make the arguments and then vote. All the lying and personal destruction simply don't add anything valuable at all. I do believe very strongly that a single term limit for every elected office would help a lot. It would certainly reduce the corruption.

I'll skip your "yes, I admit Republican politicians are corrupt, therefore all politicians must be corrupt" nonsense.

You have no idea what I believe.

Maybe. But he was not the candidate nominated by the person who occupied the Presidency at the time. So Republicans already packed the court by adding one more justice.

It is a bad idea to set the precedent of packing the court for partisan reasons. But the precedent of packing the court was been set by Republicans when they appointed Garland. So Democrats would not be the ones setting the precedent.

she is supposed to turn it down because she will be on the supreme court of the UNITED states

NOT one democrat agreed she should accept the position

she is not becoming a judge for the party of trump

her seat will be nullified when 2 more justices are named for the court

    like it or not

the GOP won this battle..but will lose the war

Packing the court would be dumb. The whole reason we are in this mess is because the team in power changes the rules to favor the team in power, while completely forgetting the other team will be back in power eventually, and play one-upmanship.

Harry Reid changed the rules for how federal judges get approved. (Except SCOTUS)
McConnell changed the rules for how SCOTUS gets approved.

If team D says we need two more SCOTUS judges, it will set a precedent that will work against the democrats the next time republicans are back in power. They will then add five seats, and team D will add another 20 the next time, and so it will go until we have 700 SCOTUS judges.

As opposed to it being held by one party forever? I'll take it!

BTW, packing the court is not meant to counter the partisan Republican justices with Democratic partisan justices. It's to counter them with independent justices. Like Merrick Garland, for example.

What "millionth time"? Stop the acting. This is the first time you ask me this!

Whether I like them or not is not the issue. That they are partisan is the issue.

Right now the Republican Supreme Court has not shown any sign that they will protect the people's constitutional right to vote.

And with Barret on board, our Democracy is in danger.

the democrats will have all 3 branches of the government

the GOP aint gonna bitch slap anybody...they will become a pimple on the ass of the democrats

the GOP will brag for the next 2 years about their court appointments

they rightly so...they accomplished nothing else when they controlled all 3 branches

so now the GOP will try to govern through the SCOTUS...

the democrats will bitch slap the GOP and either impeach a sitting judge

or they pack the court exactly the same way the GOP has

the democrats will nominate AOC!! Andrea Ocasio Cortez
