Must be regional. We got milk and bread out the wazoo. No flour anywhere.

Nothing can be done there, since your brain must be thoroughly sanitized, disinfected and then completely washed of anything even slightly resembling rational thought before you can catch it.

Doesn't dishwashing detergent work well for your hands? Our local Dollar Store has it in 50 oz bottles. It's not very gentle but are you looking for beautiful hands or functioning lungs?

Dawn is truly fabulous stuff. It's the major choice of environmentalists for cleaning off birds caught in oil spills as it works great and doesn't damage feathers. It's not cheap though, which is the main thing I look for in a dishwashing liquid. ( The ladies tell me they think my hands were hardened on the battlefields of Gaul if I pay them enough)

The mentality of the Bible Belt is somewhat infamous, often in a funny kind of way, but in a sad kind of way too. There is a clear cultural difference between living in the Bible belt, especially those dark red States, and living in more enlightened places like Colorado and the West Coast, or the East Coast from Boston to DC. A great deal of the divide has to do with education, which tends to be a good indicator of intelligence. It is what was exposed during the Scopes Monkey Trial.

Is that not one if the biggest complaints Bible Belt dwellers? That the liberal elites make fun of them. Often Southern characters are the butt of jokes on comedic television. Why is it, do you think, that so many Republican Senators get compared to Mr. Haney?

There has been a well documented brain drain, where the bright kids go off to college and on to live in cites, where opportunities abound for the ambitious.
Sub Saharan Africas with IQs averaging in the eighties can farm, mine, harvest trees, and work in factories. It doesn't take highly skilled, highly educated people to do the major work of rural red America. It is the kind of work anyone can do if they are willing to do the work. I say this having spent my childhood living on a farm in northeastern Ohio. The Amish have long demonstrated that it only takes an eighth grade education to successfully farm.

That and the fact that the more educated, the more cosmopolitan one becomes, the more one values science, the less likeky one is to cling to the beliefs and prejudices that abound in the Bible Belt. Nobel prize winners tend to live and work in cities. Most innovation comes from liberal oases.

To a liberal, especially a well educated liberal, one knows that logic that liberals and progressives use does not work on conservatives from the Bible Belt. It is the same divide as there was during the Scopes Trial.

So when a conservative brags about their Bible Beltness, and a liberal says it explains a lot, it is code that other liberals get, and often nod in agreement, if that be the case. Ever been around a group of individuals and one describes you to one of the others as one of "them".? Same difference.

Yeah, but the world is presently full of surprises, unfortunately not many of them are good. This just doesn't seem to be the right time to be disparaging any part of America and Not Oliver is just so full of his/her/it self and not very American under the present circumstances.

I live in a small town about 40 minutes out of Lubbock Texas. In Lubbock they have 33 confirmed cases right now I believe it goes up every day as they get results back. Here for a few days early last week it did get kind of crazy in the city but there wasn't really any violence or anything maybe a shouting match here and there. The stores did run out of a lot of products through. Individualism is strong in this area of the planet. That can be both good and bad the stores ran out of most sanitizing and bleach products, and basic food staples became hard to find stuff that doesn't spoil flour, rice, noodles, canned stuff then places started running out of milk, eggs, bread, meat. The shelves have recovered somewhat now although you might have to go to 2 or 3 different places to find what you're looking for.

I see a lot more homeless people in the city though I guess wherever they were hanging out during the day is closed.

My hands are fine. I use hot water and a simple bar of cleansing soap, followed by moisterizer. But I can't use that on my dishes. I was able to find a bottle of Dawn for those, but thanks.

Pretty much the same here...45 miles north of NYC.

The stores are almost back to normal. They finally wised up and stopped letting people buy basket loads of TP and hand sanitizer...meat too.

Thank god for the truckers and grocery workers. They must be scared shitless. My hat's off to them all

Smart farmers are better Farmers oh well. Certainly not that easy. Did you see the church still having services. The pastor said going to church is the most important thing. Big mistake I think. I blame the GOP propaganda machine not the lovely Republicans. But they should be more careful what they believe....

It's code that leftist make bald face idiotic assumptions about people and places that in truth they know nothing about.

I have one cannister of Clorox wipes. When those are gone, I guess I'll have to make-shift with clean rags made from old tee shirts doused with hot soapy water to wipe thengs down before removing my gloves. At least I have plenty of those, due to being a vain old woman who dies the gray out of her hair. I always have a couple boxes of nitrile gloves.

I sure do hope that sometime soon I can arrange to at least get that new, cheap, simple antibody test, because I think I fought this thing off this past week. It could have been a common cold, but the timing is suspicious and I haven't been close enough to anyone to catch a cold (that virus doesn't travel like this COVID-19 does). For all I know, I could now be immune to this thing, and instead of wasting my days away at home, I could be volunteering at the hospital or a local nursing home.

I mentioned two cultural groups, one Black, one White both of which are known for their lack of education, yet thrive in rural settings.
