24 hours later, Trump claims he misspoke in Helsinki, meant to say Russia did have reason to meddle in election

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/po...claims-he-misspoke-helsinki-meant-say-n892166

President Donald Trump attempted on Tuesday to clarify his widely criticized comments in Helsinki, saying that he had misspoken when he said a day earlier that he did not see why Russia would have meddled in the election. Trump said Tuesday he meant to say he did not see any reason why it wouldn't have been Russia that interfered.

"I thought that I made myself very clear, but having just reviewed the transcript...I realized that there is a need for some clarification," Trump said Tuesday at the White House. "The sentence should have been...'I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russia'."

Trump is realizing how bad he messed up, saying he meant "wouldn't" instead of "would" is so unbelievable

but that said, I am glad the backlash is at least causing him to lie about it, that means he realizes just how wrong he was and even his supporters were letting him know

and good for Trump to finally admit Russia tried to influence the 2016 election

I still think Putin has something on Trump, this is just so crazy you could not make this stuff up... no one would believe you

My first reaction to Trump's "retraction" was - unbelievable. Upon reflection, given it's Trump, it's all too believable. The public and the press beat the living hell out of him for his disgraceful performance in his little "summit" and in the kidnapping of 3000 kids. This latest dodge just angered everyone for having their intelligence insulted. You can bet Trump will just keep on digging.

As virtually anything Trump says he will say otherwise within a week (its called lying by the way) this is no surprise....he will pay dearly for it this time however as Republicans are finally growing a set and even TrumpHumpers have learned a new word...TREASON.

Watching him lie today - he's dancing as fast as he can. Its like watching him trying to shove toothpaste back in the tube but it must have rankled to have to almost apologize and admit he was wrong. He's wrong almost every day, lies more than 5 times every single day but he never admits it.

He's at his funniest when he tries to read what is written for him.

    He's gonna "repeal" Russia.

But at least, he didn't say there are good dictators like he said there are good nazis and good kkk. Every time I see him speak, I just cringe and wish he's ****.

The insecure narcissist is incapable of honestly admitting that Putin, in the interests of Russia, covertly conspired to put him in the White House, just as he has attempted to sabotage the democratic process in several democratic nations.

One of Putin's primary objectives: Weaken NATO.

I don't even think Putin believed that all his various covert machinations on behalf of Trump would result in his actually being elected.

The Crybaby had expected to lose and had, in anticipation, whined about the election being fixed and the electoral college system a disaster.

Had the 2.8 million more votes Clinton received been otherwise distributed, it would have been a different electoral college result, and Trump would be very, very pissy for a long, long time.

Undercutting the confidence of the American people was Putin's primary objective, and who better to achieve that than a chronic, egomaniacal whiner with no respect for truth who needed to lie about millions and millions of invisible bogus voters casting ballots against him?

Maybe if they hacked the DNC server and spilled the beans on how she treated bernie sanders

But there is no evidence of that

Seth Rich was not murdered for no reason
