I agree that people see what they want to see. But the fact is most see it all, while some people refuse to acknowledge the part they don't want to see, and pretend it isn't there.
If you are unwilling to see the issues with your own view of things and with the leaders you support, reason and logic are undermined by willful blindness. Neither side is perfect here, but we still have to be able to have a grasp on reality in order to make sound decisions. It makes it hard to resolve when leaders and media tip the scales of judgment to arrive at a chosen answer, and it confuses people, especially those who lack self confidence or solid values.
Not good for the nation.
