How do you come to that conclusion?

He is a poster boy for mental health control and a MASSIVE majority of people agree. To try to sneak gun control here is disengenuous and pretty sad

Why are hardliners on gun rights ok with institutionalizing people but not taking their guns away or preventing sales for the exact same issues?

In fact, we don't kill gun rights for people who are institutionalized, they just can't take them with them. That makes no sense.

Be careful what you wish for. surrendering the issue of gun confiscation is a wide open back gate to the fort

Why are you ok with taking away the majority of the public's freedom instead of calling an individual sick?

    That makes no sense

I don't want to take his guns, I want to put crazy people back in mental institutions. While yes, the mental institution will not likely allow guns on the premises, the two issues are not one in the same at all

Pretty sure institutionalizing someone takes away more freedoms than putting them in NICS.

Yes, it sure does. What is your point?

I think people that are mentally challenged do FAR less harm to themselves and the nation when they are given help to.

Definitely an argument to be had, what makes a person likely to need mental help.

But you are the one that keeps trying to put guns in this, I simply don't care.

Or the crime ultimately adjudicated didn't meet the threshold for loss of the right to own arms or an extreme risk protection order. . The charge Mr Ramos was found guilty, harassment, had no physical component, it was entirely an online relationship. The law lags technology.

This is a thread about a mass shooting where the op is claiming it cannot be used as a case for gun control.

What it obvious is that the Left is comfortable with a certain level of violence for political reasons.

Yes, and we had a discussion about it which evolved into why I think it is a mental health problem and not a gun problem.

You realized you lost the argument and have tried to devolve our discussion back to the origional topic, which is very disingenuous as it completely goes against the things you and I have discussed.

    Good Game

It is interesting to watch people get SUPER frustrating that nobody cares about emotional arguments anymore.

Some are so used to simply doing nothing but falling back to them and they are honeslty confused as to why it doesn't work anymore.

No body cares, it is simply that easy to answer.

I don't think we are far apart on this. I just question why someone would be so against gun control as a step before requiring institutionalizing someone.

I live near and have worked with the leadership of a mental hospital and I recognize how it has been systematically ignored and minimized over the years.

    I agree ....

There is no sanity in discussing anything with someone who is arguing with emotion.

If I wanted that kind of insanity I would watch The View.

Gun control? It's confiscation and the individual will likely never have his/her guns returned. Good enough if it stops something like this shooting but it has to take place before the act to be effective. At this point all that needs to happen is for healthcare officials to deem an individual to not be in control of his/her faculties and we all know that has never been abused. I recognize the value of such a program but I also see it as handing over the keys to the kingdom. It is a path to confiscation and the 2nd will have already been made moot.

They are not interested in the truth ....

They are only interested in parroting the propaganda.

You have to understand who these extremist are ...

They want to see America destroyed at all cost ....

Whether they are smart enough to realize it or not ....

Clearly ... this IS the goal of the Left.

And the parrots .... aka "Useful Idiots" ...

Are right there to fall in line ....

Not really. I often think of skydiving as being ridiculous, "why jump out of a perfectly good aeroplane?"
