Nebraska and Massachusetts have each added one clinic since 2010, and the other 21 states and the District of Columbia, most of which have not passed new anti-abortion laws since 2010, were unable to accurately count their clinics because their health departments do not license abortion providers separately from other kinds of medical providers. IMO: The implications of this would have been profound even one year ago, but with the advent of the Plan B pill that can be bought over the counter without age limitations, nor notes from Mama, or discussion with a doctor or pharmacist, or having to prove anything to anybody due to the miraculous Plan B pill. The only thing that closing any womens clinics did was hurt poor women who have taken advantage of the myriad of other services for women that they now must forego. Many women will suffer and die because they cannot afford medical care, have no medical insurance, or funds to pay for medications they may need. And as we all realize, wealthy women get their abortions at hospitals from high priced doctors, with no problem. The attack was always directed toward poor women by the republicans and is the leading reason for women to get to the polls each and every voting day so we can protect our rights, equality, and vaginas against the onslaught of republican hatred, fear, and misogyny.
