Am a big fan of Lucifer both fiction ( Wendy Alec) and much more interesting , non fiction . True and full History . You need to be very clear about the real origination of the term , Satan . It has absolutely nothing to do with the figure of Lucifer the Archangel of Light . Sit comfortably and prepare yourself . Judas Iscariot was Chief of the Scribes until the crucifixion and was a supporter of the Eastern philosophy, namely opposing Rome with force and the exclusion of Gentiles from them. He was an active Zealot . Judas was the successor to Judas the Galilean and was known commonly as Satan . He stood as second in command and Prophet to Simon Magus the Pope of the Eastern Church with Theudas who was its King . And Theudas was also known as Barabbas . And it was Theudas ( Barabbas the King and not some petty thief) and Simon Magus who were crucified , with Judas Iscariot cleverly and cunningly avoiding being in the middle . And it was under the name of Satan that he debated with Jesus at the temptations . You must appreciate that there were two parties of religious people that made up early Christianity or even pre Christian times , if you wish to be pedantic . Those that pulled to the East -- as already mentioned -- and those more Hellenic or Western in nature , who wanted peace with Rome and were led by Jesus , who , radically in those times , accepted Gentiles . Judas ( from the East ) was in the process of considering a move from the anti Rome stance toward the Jesus led "peace keepers".And , interestingly , becoming an anti John the Baptist ( the cousin of Jesus ) as Jesus was himself , at least politically . Judas( Satan ) offered him the world , but the subtext was , " If you accept me as Priest and Pope , I will make you King " You must be aware that at that time , Jesus had not yet fully gone against the injunction that only members of the tribe of Levi could act as Priests , whereas Jesus' claim to Kingship could be supported , because he was from the Royal House of David . Jesus turned him down because he closely allied himself to Jonathan Annas the ruling High Priest .And would not break that alliance , Jonathan Annas as High Priest was God's word on earth . This background is vital to the understanding of Judas( Satan ) and goes some way to giving you real motives for him later betraying Jesus . He was turned down by Jesus and was deprived of becoming High Priest -- a level of position not hinted at in the New Testament which is why his betrayal was always so difficult to comprehend . It also gives dimension to this figure thrust on to us of a common thief , Barabbas . No such thing. Simon Magus stood second only to Jesus as a figure in those times but politically was more important . The bible has almost struck him from existence and , of course , played down the significance of Judas Iscariot and Barabbas . With them included , the narrative was far too political , full of back stabbing and totally "Unchristian" !!
Satan is, like all other deities, a made-up character intended to compel human behavior through fear.
I like the dark literature, and the dark fantasy more than the "light fantasy". It is I like more the legends of Satan or the Devil than the legends of God. And considering all the texts of the bible, is more evil God than Satan or Lucifer. Lucifer is portrayed as the being that gave freedom to the person, a person that only murdered people when they were murderers. No one innocent has died in his hands, while God has killed millions of innocent people, according to the bible. Also according to the bible the heaven is hotter than the hell
So, I believe the answer to that question is yes, there is at least on Satanist on this board. Incidentally, most Satanists classifiy themselves publically as strong atheists. Wonder why?
You have absolutely no evidence with which to substantiate that preposterous assertion. That said, one can not be a Satanist and an atheist. Atheism is the disbelief in the existence of supernatural bengs. So any Satanist that claims to be an atheist is mistaken, or lying.

Because that standard changes on a dime. Prisoners with 'no religion' are not atheists, you have to claim it correct? But Buddhists are often listed as atheists, even though they do not claim it. Now Satanists actively call themselves atheists, but hey cannot be atheists? This is exactly the tomfoolery that lead me away from atheism. Or did you think atheism had the market on self worship completely cornered? And too put this in perspective, the Crusaders and the Westboro Baptist Church were/are Christians. I am not going to change the standards of what a Christian is simply to meet my own emotional desires. We learn by acknoweldging mistakes, whether organizational or personal - and you cannot do that when there is ALWAYS an excuse for bad things. Never YOUR fault and NEVER YOUR FAITH GROUPS fault? The burden of proof rests with the party of the affirmative. 'Support' is all it takes to be classified as a Satanist? Not actual worship? Well then, Satan me up. As a fictional character, I quite like him, there's elements of a kind of Robin Hood or Batman type story there - doing nasty things but for a good reason. And on another note, credit where it's due, as much as Neutral is annoying, if he's legit about not moving goalposts like that then props to him.
Poor Mister Lucifer hasn't had a mention and they just assume that he is synonymous with Satan . DYOR .
