I do not need to. The framers already made it normative to alter or abolish.

Can you explain how else they intended the people to unify adequately to alter or abolish government destructive to unalienable rights, if free speech was not intended to serve that purpose?

    I never said it wasn't.

Excellent. Would you deem the purpose of free speech abridged?

The purpose of free speech is whatever you want it to be. I agree that was the framers intention though.

Hmmm, how about "anything you need it to be."?

But, in the ultimate sense of protecting unalienable, retained rights, it is the ultimate tool for effective unity. Therefore it is logical the framers intended it to serve that purpose, first. Doing so preserves the constitution, unalienable rights and creates, essentially, the right that protects all rights. It is a combination of rights used in concert.

I agree, without it all other rights are endangered. There's a reason it's the first.

I still firmly believe the bill of rights was a mistake - as many of the framers argued at the time, enumerating rights undermines enumerated authority.

There's nothing in Article I Section 8 which allows Congress to abridge your speech, take your guns, etc.

I think they were absolutely right, as Congress has far exceeded its enumerated authority, to the point where AIS8 is a complete joke if you read it today.

Would this have happened anyway? Possible.

In short, I'd like to limit the Feds power to such an extent that rights abuses are not possible.

Generally it is possible that enumerating rights undermines those that are not enumerated. But with the 9th Amendment in position, IF state Citizens figure out their power is over their state, the unwritten rights can be written if needed by the state acting with other states.

I have not read AIS8, but will.

State Citizens have a very strong interest in limiting the federal to a point where it does not have the authority to usurp states rights.

Unfortunately the yellow vest movement is already hijacked and headed for the dirt. Dividing the people and using up those with the courage to resist in useless maneuvers that gain no authority while alienating the people from one another and activism.

The 9th is even less applied than the 10th, and that's saying something.
