We have no idea how effective his controls for such were, but we do know that he found that renting represented a 63% higher risk for homicide in the home than having a gun in the home did. In any case, it might support an interesting PSA, but not much else. What is the exact increased risk of homicide for having a gun in the home in the suburbs, or in rural areas?
"First, and perhaps most unexpectedly, it appears that individual gun ownership has gone down, even as gun sales have surged upwards. That is to say, although the United States boasts enough guns for every man, woman and child in the country, the number of households that actually have guns is at its lowest point in over 40 years." https://www.ambidextrousthoughts.com/gun-rights-and-regulations-statistics/ Gun owners keep adding to their gun collections (so sales go up), but fewer people are choosing to become gun owners.
https://www.usnews.com/news/health-...e-americans-became-gun-owners-during-pandemic I have certainly done my part to increase sales as my collection grows, but I have noticed more first time gun buyers than any other time.
An armed population is a polite population. "Peer reviewed" in the above post means a bunch of equally radically, equally liberal folks read it and agreed.
Why aren't there any studies out there showing that homicide is less likely to happen in homes where guns are kept? Maybe a gun is not such an ideal self-defense tool.....
Nope. The number of unique gun buyers must be going down. The same people just keep adding to their gun collections.
Correct. What is the exact increased risk to anyone's life by having a gun in the home for urban, for suburban and for rural residents?

Yes. If you live in Florida you'll want to own one because there are all kinds of psychos everywhere. They say the scum settles on the bottom, and that is certainly true about US where FL is the bottom. If you're homeless, then FL is the place to be because you can be outdoors all year round.
I keep my gun right next to my insurance policies. I haven't needed either yet. But they are there if I do.
I ordered a new forgrip for my semi auto 12ga., it's waiting for me at the post office. Which got me wondering what the annual expenditures would look like, on a national level, in regards to monies spent on weapon mods if it were researched. NICS numbers do not reflect the number of purchases wherein the purchaser has a LTC and the call to NICS for clearance is negated. Lots of people who are merely adding to their collection aren't recorded via NICS at all.
So you do support criminals being able to ply their trade without any risk of loss of life or serious injury? I understand you a lot better now, but no thanks, I prefer to remain alive and uninjured by having the tools necessary to maintain such a life, likewise you are free to call the police and wait, while unable to protect yourself. It's a personal choice and to each his own.
