There are safety issues. Electric-Bus Inferno In Hanover-Germany…Explosive Fire Causes “Millions In Damages” Charles Rotter 9 Comments Although fires can happen anywhere, they become critical and dangerous when e-vehicles are involved. An affected battery acts as a powerful fire accelerant due to a chain reaction and must…
I laugh, in order not to cry. How to run a Tesla on gasoline… David Middleton Guest “Now that’s funny right there” by David Middleton
Lithium polymer batteries can break out in fire with nothing more than an overcharge or physical damage. They have been known to do this for no reason on rare occasions. I sometimes enjoy flying radio controlled airplane models and I have had a battery powered model crash and break out in a conflagration. LIPO batteries are powerful but a bit on the unstable side. Is there anybody on the forum supporting EV's that actually owns one?
Too much money for too little. I'LL fill the 11.5 gallon tank on my 25 year old 4 cylinder, YOU charge the battery on your new electric wonder-mobile....lets see who goes the furthest before needing a "refill" (and who can "refill" the fastest to boot).
No, such a thing would be pointless impossible and a waste. What are they going to do ask after the planet to hold its breath every other day.
Electric cars seem to be a religion for some people they are a novelty they have been in novelty since 1900 they have the same limitations now that they did a century ago I don't see this getting very far they'll make this crap few people will buy it. If it comes down to it people will buy used cars so it's not to I have to buy overpriced underpowered limited junk
The more we learn about EV's, the worse the idea seems. California Dreamin’ Meets Reality: Don’t Charge Your Electric Vehicle During Heat Waves EXTREME HEAT JUNE 25, 2021
Damn! Can't charge the EV during heat waves? 'Heat Dome' To Roast Northeast States "Expect power prices to increase." Hot AND Humid. At least they aren't in CA where they tell you to not use the AC during heatwaves so that the "sustainable" power grid doesn't crash. But, yes, it's going to be HOT in the NE and the NW.
Not to mention the environmental impact of EV's. 171 Scientists: CO2 Budget Of Electric Mobility “Twice As Big As Assumed” By European Leaders By P Gosselin on 30. June 2021 Share this... 171 scientists say European policymakers have grossly miscalculated the CO2 budget of e-cars in 2030 and that in reality CO2 emitted would be MORE THAN TWICE AS HIGH as assumed: EU Commission head Ursula von der Leyen and her colleagues recently received an open letter drafted by scientists of the International Association of Sustainable Drivetrain and Vehicle Technology Research (IASTEC) Six representatives from Southwest Europe, South Europe, Southeast Europe, Eastern Europe, Northern Europe and Central Europe signed an open letter on behalf of 171 scientific members of IASTEC. The 171 scientists say policymakers have “grossly miscalculated the CO2 budget of e-cars in 2030” and that in reality CO2 emitted would be more than twice as high as assumed. . . .
PLEASE BUY AN ELECTRIC CAR: Related: “Indian Point Energy Center (I.P.E.C.) was a three-unit nuclear power plant station located in Buchanan, New York, just south of Peekskill. It sits on the east bank of the Hudson River, about 36 miles (58 km) north of Midtown Manhattan. The facility has permanently ceased power operations as of April 30, 2021.” https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/459143/ We have incompetent zealots in charge of too much.
With friends like these, Tesla does not need enemies. At Tesla’s ‘Gigafactory’ site in Germany, Elon Musk comes up against green activism and red tape By Loveday Morris and Luisa Beck
Yeah musk isn't a genius or a visionary he's a hype man, and damn good at it too. I don't think he was prepared for the envirocult that seems to be in Europe.
I find an EV to be more convenient than a gasoline car. However, some insist that everyone drives 600+ miles while towing a house on every trip they take. No gas stations - no oil changes.
What are 99% of drivers using their cars for? Are do you also insist that everyone drives 600+ miles while towing a house?
Most people don't really want to buy two cars when all they need is one. They would choose the more versatile option. One where you don't get anxiety about the next place to fuel up Perhaps in time these limitations on electric cars will be mitigated but now isn't the time.
I can charge my laptop with my vehicle and it doesn't reduce the amount of distance I can travel. It's the difference of producing power vs simply using it
I don't like having to upkeep 12 houses around the world either. That's why I rent and use hotel rooms.
