Why did they have to name their movement Atheism+. Don't we have a hard enough time trying to convince the theists that atheism is not a religion without someone muddying the water? Some blogs are calling it an Atheist schism for **** sake!
Wow, atheist infighting. Interesting to watch. This video reminds me of the South Park episode where Cartman goes 1000 years in the future and all religion has been abolished and atheism reins supreme. But the atheists are in three factions and they are actually at the brink of war with each other over minor doctrinal differences. This lady seems very intelligent, educated and articulate. She is everything atheists claim to be, but usually are not.
Atheism is a religion. After all, this is the Religion forum and it is dominated by atheists, with Christians and others barely getting in a word edgewise. If atheism isn't a religion, then why do atheists post to the Religion forum?
Atheism is NOT a religion. Atheism is simply a lack belief in any deity. Atheists are in the religion forum because we are sick of theist shoving their god and morals down our throat. Not I except you to understand this.
I was once at a forum where atheists had their own forum and each religion had their own forum. That way Christians could carry on a civilized discussion without atheists butting in. On this forum, there is only one place to go. So if Christians try to talk about a Christian issue, its not long before atheists swarm in and ruin the thread with their typical garbage about unicorns and "the flying spaghetti monster." So who's forcing what on who? On this forum, its atheists forcing their own crap on Christians.
What does this have to do with Atheism+? What is ironic, you are doing the same exact thing you accuse atheists of.
Why do you guys get so butthurt over people calling atheism a religion? Those same people literally believe in fairy tales and magical beings. Do you really think the religion/not a religion issue is going to be the one that finally clears their heads? LOL

I have heard about it before, but I agree to some extent with what whatshername says. I think we should leave atheists to be atheists, feminists to be feminists and so on. It is still a reasonable idea to form an organization which allows for interaction between the groups, but I see no reason why that needs to be more than a forum. Personally, I would agree with them on several points, but not on all, and I see no reason to create such stiff constraints as to exclude people like me. It'd probably be better if atheist feminists could argue atheism as atheists and feminism as feminists without confusing the subject even more. However, I don't agree with her on the with us or against us thing. Atheism+ is too small to make a proper impact on spreading that notion, and if it ever becomes large, it'll have had a lot of people denouncing it on similar grounds to the extent that that notion will have been disproven.
